We stayed at the friendly Hotel lá Caravella. Ideal location for exploring this amazing little town full of cobbled streets that reveal quaint restarants, churches, shops. Safe, endearing gem.

Agropoli is primarily a very Italian beach resort with a harbour and very pretty views. There is also a rather shabby area with local stores and another area that has been much gentrified. The latter leads up to the many steps at the top of which sits a medieval Franciscan monastery and 16th century churches. The town is well worth a visit and is accessible by both train and bus from Naples.

Scenery, the people and the quiet town. Not busy like the Amalfi Coast. If this would have not been our last stop we would much more time here...

We have been to several tours on Italy previously. So when we were invited by friends to visit we were really excited.Agropoli is about 1 hr south of Salerno on the coastal road and about an hr and 15 mins south of Naples on the highway.Just south is the Cilento Natural Preserve and coastline. From here the Amalfi coast is due west across the Bay of Salerno. This is a Italian local summer seaside resort. There are many condos just for seasonal use.We had a great time on the beach of which there are many.We had a great meal at the Castle viewing an incredible sunset.
A real gritty slice of ordinary Italian life on holiday. The chief advantages are the Sunset,Very affordable and walkable.Good rail links also ferry to the Amalfi coast, but a car increases access to many beaches.Paestum is due north and filled with excellent restaurants on the Beach.Knowing the language is definitely a plus to enhance your enjoyment. So not for neophytes but excellent value away from the congestion of the Amalfi coast.

Great little seaside town 2 hours from Naples, great Marina with lots of Bars and restaurants.
Really comes alive in an evening with live music in the bars and lots of delicious places serving street food.

I return to Agropoli at the beginning of June to visit close relations and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have beautiful memories of Agropoli and this new trip only confirmed my love for this pretty, orderly and welcoming town. Please do not hesitate to visit it if you happen to pass by it.

We were staying further along the coast towards Salerno, and made a day trip to visit Agropoli.

What a beautiful town!
Lovely walks along the sea, and up the hill to the older part of the town.
Well worth a visit.
