The 14th-century church was destroyed during the Wars of Religion, once in 1563, then again in the summer of 1577. Its reconstruction began in 1603. It was sacked again in 1621 by the troops of the Duke of Rohan. The vault collapsed, and only a high wall remained from the bell tower. Reconstruction lasted between 1630 and 1672. In 1769, the west wall was raised and the windows expanded. In 1773, the vault was rebuilt from brick.

The Roman portal was rebuilt by the architect Larix in 1870-1872, as well as two battlemented towers.
