I live in the area and Rochester castle is my favourite tourist attraction in Kent. Dont forget to visit when Christmas market starts or during summer festivals

This castle overlooks the historic town of Rochester which comes alive at various times of the year such as the Dickensian festival and the Xmas festivals A great historical building that is definitely worth admiring and taking photos of

Got in using my English Heritage membership and a great example of an early Norman castle. Good audio tour telling the history etc and long climb to the top is worth it for the views.

We visited the castle during the Dickensian festival, there was a queue out the door to get in, but the staff dealt with it all really well getting people in quickly. While the castle walls and grounds are extensive it’s only the Lee you pay...More

Being a ruin, you get much more from this site the more information you learn about the castle, so a tour or at least a guidebook is essential to get the most out of a visit. What you take away from a visit can also...More

Hello, it isn't far at all. The train station is in a road that runs parallel to the High Street. Simply cross that road and you will be in the heart of Rochester.
