Visited the castle with two kids (4 and 6 yr), was like visiting a maze, really cool, and every time looking for a new way. Castle is preserved pretty good, nice thing to do.

A great little picnic spot for families visiting Rochester. The grounds, both inside and out, of the castle are well kept.

Revisited now we are English Heritage members which is a much more economical way to go. Small shop and stairways leading up and up through ruins allowing a fine view from the top and historical knowledge gained on the way up. Well worth a visit...More

If you are thinking of going here please be aware it is a shell of a Castle and there is over 200 uneven steps to go up and down so if you’re not very fit you should avoid it.

Rochester castle is certainly worth a visit, although it doesn’t take long. As much of it is closed for preservation and a pigeon problem.

A brilliant derelict castle with minimal signage but an excellent sense of history. Reasonably priced.

Was an absolute joy to wonder around Rochester Castle, from the moment you walked in stunning views all the way to the top, just don’t look down if u suffer from vertigo, it’s a 100 foot drop below!!!

Really enjoyed our visit this afternoon after visiting Upnor castle about 10 mins drive away. There was plenty of nearby pay parking but might be busier at peak times. We parked in the cathedral carpark which was only 5mins away. This part of Rochester is...More

As others have said: yes, looks as if it will be open. Just a thought if you haven't visited before: the high walkways, which are open to the sky, are bound to be wet and windy, so be sure to dress accordingly and wear... More
