This castle is pleasant and relaxing. It's free to enter and ground level and there is a pleasant wine bar inside, with very knowledgeable staff. There is a charge to go up on to the ramparts, but the views make it worthwhile.

This is a bare-bones fortezza, nothing too fancy, as the only rooms are the bar/gift shop that controls the entrance (and charges) for the stairs up the three stories. There are a few rooms for an art exhibit, but nothing else. But the view from...More

Satisfied. An amazing attraction to see Montalcino from top. There's a wonderful view: the Tuscan countryside is undoubtedly incredible! Well conserved, the staff at the wine bar is gentle.

Beautiful for a quick visit. If you like history and everything else you can spend a hour in this Fortress. Otherwise a quick view.

We visited the Fortezza in mid-February. Staff was kind and nice and guided us through the tasting. Good price-quality ratio! Worth a visit.

We stopped by to look go up and see the spectacular view from this beautiful stone structure. We were not disappointed in our choice and in fact got some of the best pictures of our trip to Montalcino from the parapet walls. There was a...More

Definitely worth going up to appreciate the 360 degree views of the Tuscan countryside. Looped walkway around towers - entrance is via the wine shop, pay at the counter inside.

No fee to walk inside the fort and the grounds. If you want to go up to the tower and walk the wall there is a fee. You can get some wonderful views even if you don't go up to the wall. It's worth your...More
