Old, run down is an understatement! We did not venture out from our hotel unless we went in our car to our places we wanted to visit. We drove to Waimea falls, Noth Shore, Dole Plantation and more but that’s it. Everywhere else we saw in the way was a catastrophe.

Great way to spend your day touring the city. There is so much rich history right here. It's an easy way to tour the historical sites. Parking is limited but available.

Homeless everywhere downtown and prostitutes on the corner near the safeway. Doesnt feel safe. Chinatown didn't look nice either. Some beaches on the east side of oahu are great and north side is pretty. China walls in the south is also great. Better to stay in kaneohe or some other mid-upscale area if possible if trying to avoid the Waikiki crowds and expense. Downtown is terrible.

Downtown Honolulu is not your ordinary city's downtown; even it is beautiful. It is very people friendly with lots of restaurants and shops and tropical foliage.

If you will be in Waikiki it’s worth checking out the souvenir store located at 159 Kaiulani Ave, #104, Honolulu. There are lots of cute little things and prices are really cheap. I bought 5 bracelets for $16, while on the corner price for 1 was $4. The owner is very kind man. Support small business!

Even though it’s busy and overpriced, you can’t not love Downtown Honolulu. No matter what you say! Lot’s of fun and great times are plenty! We had a blast there 2 years years ago and it was FANTASTIC! No problems at all. The dancing was very good with no big issues! Wonderful atmosphere, no problems, and a great time.

What a surprise this place was to us. Shopping and eating galore. Nightlife all over the place. Seemed clean and safe. Lots of car traffic and foot traffic. Lots to see and do. High end hotels and shopping.

As frequent worldwide travellers we booked to stay in Honolulu at Waikiki beach area for 5 nights after 3 weeks in Japan.
Very disappointed in what we have experienced. From arrival at a very tired airport to a dated and overpriced hotel.
The area is tired, dirty, grossly expensive to eat out and for drinks. Waikiki beach area is riddled with homeless people begging on boulevard.
The resort is suffocated by shopping plazas and ABC stores on every street corner.
Certainly not a welcoming experience and far from what is advertised!!!!
The aforementioned is reality as definitely not what is advertised to attract you there!!!
There is no beach bars or cafe bars along the beach area. If you like burgers, hot dogs and cola then is a fix, or it’s for want to be surfers!
Will definitely not return nor recommend to anyone.

We went to Honolulu for my October birthday. It was Halloween while we were there. WOW do people go crazy dressing up. I was standing Nrxt to what I thought was a statue when it turned and started talking to me. Hawaii is wonderful and downtown Honolulu has so much to see and do. From eating to dancing your butt off...

Lots of impressive architecture here, some parks, and lots of people around. Also lots of unique restaurants. So this is a part of town that is worth visiting when you get tired of the beach.

Night clubs can be hit and miss, they can change like "a lady of the night, under ware" when you are at the hotel just google for local entertainment, for the latest and nearest.

Hi, we are coming back to Honolulu for the 3rd time from Australia and loved the International markets in the centre of everything. The last time we visited it had just closed for Hotel to be built. Have they moved to another location or is that the end of an era for the wonderful makets?

The international market place is closed until late August 2016 for refurbishment. It was completely closed when I was there in February and all torn up inside. I'm not sure how they will finish by their projected completion date, but the sign said August 2016. Hope this answers your question.

You can contact the US Immigration about a work visa. If you are fluent in English you could always find a job as a translator. Good luck.

Hi we are planning a special birthday party and expecting approximately 30 guests (four aged between 10 and 14). We have never been to Hawaii - we are planning to stay in Waikiki.
Any suggestions for the perfect restaurant/ bar with sea views for a private function (dinner / drinks / music ) that is mid range in $$.
