    Self-guided tour
The self-guided tour was very informative. Going through this very clean submarine gave a good idea of how cramped the quarters were for the men to work and live here. There were hammocks above the torpedos. The shower space, Wardroom and men’s dinning area were also very small. There was good visibility of the work spaces and the engine room. However, you have to climb over high sills in the waterproof doorways to go between compartments. The visit was well worth it!

    very nice
Very well done museum capturing the importance of the submarine fleet after attack on Pearl Harbor. Worth a visit. Ticket prices a bit high considering is NPS attraction but worth a visit.

    A great dose of pride!
What an amazing sacrifice our defenders of freedom made on our behalf. The history of this sub was outstanding. A walking tour of this cramped space demonstrated how out of such cramped quarters heroes arose both as officers and mechanics. The spit and polish is everywhere. This was the home for several years of the Greatest Generation!

Nice but needs improvement with entry staff
Your camera guy that takes a picture of you before entering, isn’t friendly seems like he doesn’t want to be there. I was noticing he was like that with most of the guests. He needs to be trained on interacting with guests and being social.

Hats off to the Men and Women that served in a Submarine. Along with all walks of the Military to protect our freedom.
In spending the day at Pearl Harbor we took advantage of seeing the USS Bowfin Submarine museum. It was very interesting to see how the men and women lived life in a submarine in very tight quarters and how everything works. Our first time to be on a submarine and it is a amazing day visit to not be missed.

Unique Experience Touring the WWII Submarine, USS Bowfin
Located at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. Tour the inside and walk along the deck of a World War II submarine, the USS Bowfin. You walk the entire length of the sub from the torpedo room, through the living quarters, the control room and the engine rooms. Really cool but beware if you are claustrophobic. Make sure to pick up the audio tour that is included with your admission. In addition to the sub, there are other outdoor exhibits and 3 interactive museums to explore. You could easily spend 2 hours here looking at everything but 1 hour is adequate if just touring the sub. Visiting the Pearl Harbor visitor center and museums is free, but you need a separate ticket to enter the USS Bowfin. Same goes for the USS Missouri and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. It costs $21.99 for the USS Bowfin, or you can purchase a Passport to Pearl Harbor pass for $89.99 that includes all 3. This pass doesn't actually save you any money when visiting the 3 sites although it also includes an audio tour of the visitor center and a virtual reality experience which I thought was worthwhile.

    Great experience
As a retired submariner, I’ve been to a few submarine museums, and I think this is the best one I’ve ever been to. In addition to the World War II submarine USS Bowfin, the museum has two large halls. One hall is devoted to World War II submarine operations in the Pacific and the other hall is devoted to submarine operations since the end of World War II. Both are very informative and very well done.

    USS Bowfin Submarine
This is part of Pearl Harbor, and so worth your time. Its a self guided tour on/in the sub. You have to be able to climb up and down steep stairs and crawl through small doors inside so if you have mobility issues I would sugest you not do this. But it is so interesting to see and kids really love it. Very educational. They take your picture on the way out with the sub behind you and is printed on a replica newspaper for $25. Im a scrapbooker so I was excited about that. There is a museum about the submarines and there crew that is very interesting, my faverite part was the flag making from the crew and the old sewing machine they used.

    Great display
Great display and presentation of a WWII submarine! I can only imagine what the men / boys aboard this amazing piece of equipment went through. My father was aboard a similar sub (Bergal). So I felt as if I was seeing the same things he would have seen as a young man so many years ago

USS Bowfin Submarine is worth a visit to see what life on a submarine looked like. It was more cramped than I expected! I didn't find the museum terribly interesting.

This was one of the most interesting and cool things we have done on our trip. We really enjoyed this museum! It is attached to the pearl harbor memorial and that is where you park (It is now $7 to park). Once inside the gates, then you go over to the right and that is where the submarine museum is located. Ask for the free audio tour! Especially for going into the submarine. They give you the device and you get complimentary cheap earbuds with it too. Pro tip, do this museum first, then go to the Aviation museum (who also has an audio tour) and you can plug in your earbuds to that device since they do not give you anything over there, and you have to hold the device up to your ear. I would recommend walking the submarine first to get a feel for everything and get some background knowledge before going into the actual museum building. Walking through the submarine was definitely the coolest part. The audio tour is definitely needed here as it is literally just a walk through with very limited signage so the only way we learned anything about the sub or knew what we were looking at is through the audio tour. You press the number 1 when you get onto the sub and then from there I am pretty sure it is RFID to know when you cross the threshold into different rooms and that is how it knows when to start playing the next recording. It will automatically go on its own as you walk through. It was very fascinating the way that they lived there on the sub. If you have mobility problems of any kind or are a very tall person, walking through the submarine is going to be very hard for you. I am 5ft 10in tall and I had to duck and maneuver pretty good to get in and out of the doorway openings to the next rooms. I hit my shoulder on one door so please watch your step and be careful as you walk through. Then you can go into the building with the museum. It starts forward and to the left and you loop around for general submarine stuff, and a little bit of WWII stuff. Then you cross over to begin the cold war era and modern submarines. So it goes from WWII to present day on everything submarine in this museum. You walk up to the sign and there is a number at the bottom that you type into your audio tour for this section. There is a lot of information in here that you could spend multiple hours. It was all so very interesting and I learned so much more than I did before. Any history buff, WWII buff, or navy buff would really enjoy this museum. However I will note there is a lot of walking around and virtually no areas to sit down so be aware of that. In between the museum and the sub there is a gift shop and a café. Overall I would highly recommend this museum as it was so interesting and different!

Very interesting and educational. The complexity of the pipes, valves, levers, wiring, electrical boxes, gages on about every inch of each wall & ceiling is mind boggling.

Our guide Ian was terrific. He explained all of the various parts of the submarine and how the crewmen live on the submarine.
