- romadaroWashington DC, District of Columbia1,567 contributionsIf You Can’t Find it Here, You Don’t Need It!This is by far one of the best malls in America based on atmosphere and the large variety of high quality stores and merchandise. Every major department store chain (Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman-Marcus, Nordstrom) and luxury brand (Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Channel, Ralph Lauren, etc) is here. The only one missing is Saks Fifth Avenue, which is in the International Market Place in Waikiki, but they do have an outpost of Saks Off Fifth in the mall. Definitely worth a visit if for no other reason than to see the Hula Show.Visited December 2022Written 22 December 2022
- TrWorldTravelerBloomington, Indiana4,961 contributionsGreat mallIf you are vacationing in Oahu and want to stay away from the beach ( maybe sunburnt ) or if the weather cloudy/rainy, this mall is great to spend time, to shop and eat/drink. Lots of stores, restaurants, food stands, movie theaters… Parking is always good. Recommended!Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 January 2023
- TSP2014Colleyville, Texas366 contributionsBusy, Busy, BusyThis mall is huge. There's plenty of parking and lots of shopping and dining options. We ate at the food court for New Year's Day dinner. I've never seen so many people. They have several options, including a Chick-Fil-A (which was closed because it was Sunday). I got Raising Cane's and the rest of my family got Mexican Food. Both locations were very slow filling the orders, but the food was good. If you want to find a place to shop and eat you can't go wrong with the Ala Moana Center.Visited January 2023Written 10 January 2023
- rosecarverNashville, Tennessee47 contributionsMany shops and restaurantsAs others have said, this place is large! Big variety of shops and restaurants to check out. 3 floors to explore with some covered and some exposed walk areas. We went there on a rainy day and had no issues staying dry. Make sure to visit the shops on the exterior of the buildings as well as the main ones on the interior. Also has a grocery store onsite, Foodland Farms. We walked the short distance there from our Hilton resort area.Visited February 2023Written 26 February 2023
- janetc757570 contributionsmallHuge outdoor mall. Lots of shops both high end and regular/every day. I had a few hours to kill before my flight after I'd checked out of my hotel so i decided to walk around. Good place to go and window shop if nothing else. Bonus: free parking!Visited April 2023Travelled soloWritten 7 April 2023
- LauraWDelaware167 contributionsEverything you'd ever need!An amazing mall. They have EVERYTHING I could have wanted. And lots more. It gets confusing trying to navigate so I got a map from the information center. The only negative is trying to figure out getting in and out of the mall. The park across the street from the Ala Moana beach park and within walking distance of the Prince WaikikiVisited March 2023Written 13 April 2023
- Usia2014Calgary, Canada1,885 contributionsHuge with many high end storesMake sure you have your good walking shoes on when visiting this big outdoor mall. Basically it’s exposed to the elements and only going inside a store offers air conditioned relief. Also, have a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated especially if you are window shopping. Many of the shops are high end chain stores. There is a decent food court with a variety of choices. The mall was very clean. We haven’t been here in several years and found it overwhelming in size and in the types of expensive stores. It was disappointing not to see the ‘local’ shops or restaurants that were once here.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 April 2023

This ginormous Mall was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel on the west end of the Waikiki strip and it's a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces with free parking. Many high end stores but we actually found some excellent sales at Macy's. We did our food-gift shopping at the Foodland grocers and had many take-out meals there to keep costs down during our stay. It's a great space to chill if you need to get away from the beach atmosphere or on a rainy day. Food courts are very busy and offer lots of variety. Also some comfy seating and washrooms available -- get yourself a map there if you don't want to waste time wandering. If you don't like crowds, get there as soon as it opens (10am) or a couple of hours before closing (8pm). Highly recommend Assagio and Liliha Bakery for good sit-down dining.

We spent half a day at the Ala Moana Center while staying in Waikiki. Easy to get to by bus. Loads of shops worth visiting as well as lots of restaurants. Always very busy.

Beginning with the parking - crowed, dirty and grimy, we found parking and it felt like my feet were sticking to the pavement as we walked.
Avoid all stairwells! More dirt and grime along with the added human feces and urine. This center is doing very little to keep the place clean.
Around the shops inside the mall, clean but crowded. I call it mini rodeo drive as I cannot afford to shop at these stores. Must be for the rich tourists.
The food places are all over priced. Then I had to ask myself, why go to a shopping mall to eat?
Overall - it reflects much of Oahu, dirty, grimy, sticky and nasty. The paradise is lost. The beauty is looking away from the concrete and at the ocean or mountains. This place - just nasty.

If you’re looking to shop in Waikiki there’s no shortage of places to shop, but this place pretty much has everything in one place. It’s also an easy walk from the southern end of Waikiki Beach area hotels, just beyond the harbor area. They have multiple restaurants and multiple food courts, one was dedicated just to Asian food. The food isn’t cheap, but that’s pretty much so across the island; but there’s a lot of options for you. There’s also a Target store, where you can buy food items at a much more comparable price to the mainland.

Great shopping centre over 4 floors - there's so many different shops to look around, including a few department stores. Nice food court on ground floor. Easy to get to from Waikiki - users pick up point is a little tricky to find.

Our hotel was a 5 mins. walk from the Ala Moana Center so of course we had to visit the world’s largest outdoor mall. We definitely did not peruse all the floors and wings and while we do enjoy shopping, we did not want to spend our precious time in Hawaii just holed up in a mall. We did however stop in at Chanel, Dior, Pandora and Target for some purchases. Also visited the food court a few times too. Would recommend to browse the mall store directory and take note of the shops you would like to visit and which floor/wing they are in. That helped us navigate efficiently and make it a quick mall trip.

We stayed in Waikiki Beach and took the bus to the center. It is a giant outdoor mall ,but all connected inside. Every store you could think of, both high end and regular.

pretty sure they don't but you can leave your luggage with the porters who have the luggage in an area only accessible by them so it would be safe.

Anyone compared prices from the UK to this shopping mall? It would be interesting to know if it was cheaper here rather than in the U.K.
Anyone else know if the mall is more expensive than say shopping in San Fran?
Thanks everyone- pretty random questions but it would be great to find some answers out before I begin my shopping.

i think it's depend which brands you are comparing. Moana isn't any cheap shopping mall , many fine and expensive brands but very nice mall anyway.
If you are shopping and it's sale and discounts you can find good deals.
Macy's are good and if you have Macy's card you got more offers.
San Francisco premium outlets are cheaper as the most store in US.
Hawaii are more expensive then the mainland.
If you want to buy cheaper, go to premium outlets waikele in Hawaii Oahu.
Good luck!

Do they still have free shuttle bus from Ala moana to waikiki vice versa? I went there dec 2014 and they had free shuttle from Ala Moana, I'm going back there in October. Do they still have this?

We did not find a free shuttle but we took a low cost shuttle that left from near our hotel
