Make sure to go to Recreation.gov and get your ferry shuttle reservations before you go
Unbelievable and sobering. Due to a change in our schedule, we had to change the date of our visit and no longer had reservations for the ferry shuttle to the memorial. We arrived early and immediately got in line of the standby land. We were able to get on the second shuttle of the day. One of our children was temporarily in a wheelchair due to an injury and the crew could not be more accommodating. This is an absolute must see when visiting Pearl Harbor. Remember to go onto Recreation.gov well prior to your visit to try to get a reservation for the USS Arizona Memorial ferry shuttle. If you aren't lucky enough to get a reservation prior, go early to the park and get into the standby line before it gets crazy long.

You cannot skip visiting the museum and Arizona memorial. We were there on a sunny morning, and it felt as if you could see the bombers coming in. Tragic and inspiring. The museum is well done and will take a good amount of time. It is WELL worth your time.

    Must do in Oahu
Visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial had been on my bucket list since elementary school (I'm in my 40s now). It was a very humbling experience being able to visit Hawaii with my family including my two children ages 14 and 10. Many displays and information, we learned a lot from the museum right outside the area where we boarded the boat to visit the Arizona. After that, we watched a brief approximately 20 minute narrated movie. The service members and civilians were in the middle of hell on earth that day.

    A somber place
I enjoyed learning more about Pearl Harbor through the exhibits and then the boat out to the memorial. Keep in mind this isn't just something to do, but is a place where many people died and remain buried. It's a place to pay respects to military members. We booked our tickets the day before at 3 pm, you really need to be at the website logged in, and waiting to get tickets beforehand. They're gone in a few minutes. Or plan to get them 48 days before your desired visit. Arrive an hour early to find parking, and don't bring a bag in unless you want to pay $7 to store it. You can bring a water bottle, smartphone, camera (no bag) and small wallet in.

Easy Standby at USS Arizona, USS Missouri well worth it
For those who do not book tix 2 mos in advance, we were able to get standby tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial for a family of 5 in July. We tried online reservations the day before at 3p but weren’t able to get tix - and ended up being happy we didn’t bc going standby turned out to be easy for us and worked better for our schedule. We parked at PH at 7:50am and got in USS Arizona standby line at 8am. About 75 people in front of us. At 8:15 reservation line was allowed in and then they took standby for the 8:15 ferry to the memorial. About 100 people were allowed on the ferry from the standby line, including our 5. It was awesome. We would have liked to see the movie beforehand but that didn’t seem possible; absolutely worth seeing it after you return on the ferry. It was a highlight. The USS Missouri was also a highlight - the (tween/teen) kids enjoyed it more. Do the Missouri tour with the nonprofit tour guides (no additional fee but optional when you get on the ship) - well worth the time and our guide (Duke) was a fun and phenomenal font of information.

Tour Pearl Harbor and USS Arizona Tour
A must to do when in O'ahu. My party did not know about the ability to buy tickets way in advance online, so we tried the day before at 3pm Hawaii time when the tickets for the next day are released. We managed to get some tickets on the second day trying, but when we went for our 1:45pm reservation time, the boats could not go out to the memorial due to strong winds. They honored our reservation for within 7 days. The parks and rec website says tour companies do not buy the tickets but that cannot be true, because over 500 tickets sell out in less than 1 minute. When I went a different day to make up for my canceled reservation almost the entire theatre/boat was a single tour group! Despite this, do not buy tours from companies that advertise the memorial. You're overpaying and contributing to price gouging. The recreation website sells these tickets at $1 per ticket, and they are very accomdating to stand by visitors. I recommend downloading the recreation.gov app and cresting your online account in advance. Do not give up and keep trying for tickets. I managed to get 3 tickets at 3:03pm, so I guess someone else's tickets were released back for purchase because the app had previously said 'sold out' by 3:01pm. Go early!! July is hurricane season in Hawaii, and the winds were always stronger in the afternoon.

    A moving experience.
This is a must see in Hawaii. Please treat the memorial as hallowed ground as many of the fallen of the USS Arizona still lie interred in the hill of the ship beneath the water. Best thing to do is to reserve two months in advance to avoid the crowds and to secure your spot in a designated day and time. This is a moving experience will will never forget where you will have an opportunity to remember the fallen and honor their sacrifice.

    Amazing Pearl Harbor tour
My husband and I did a complete tour of Pearl Harbor which included visiting the Arizona, the Bowfin, Missouri, and the Aviation museum. We booked it through Pearl Harbor tours. Our guide, Vili did an exceptionally good job explaining and getting us from place to place. He also took us to other parts of the island to the Punch bowl, military cemetery, and a few historical sites downtown Honolulu. We highly recommend this tour for a comprehensive look at Pearl Harbor.

    Such an Experience
This was amazing and wonderful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Definitely something that everyone needs to do when they come to Honolulu. I purchased the tickets ahead of time and although they say to arrive an hour before your time, you can't line up until 10 minutes before your time.

    Must See
Been here before but brought the kid with us this time. You have to log into the site to get tickets RIGHT at the moment you can get them as they were sold out within 3 min. However, stand by line didn't seem long at all. Disappointed they don't show the film prior to going over but you can go watch it later.

For the USS Arizona Memorial $1 tickets, try to book at least a month prior. A limited release of tickets does happen the day prior to the visit at 3 PM (through website, not app) but is literally gone by 3:01 PM.

We had a party of 17 and the tours were entirely too expensive for taking a tour with a bus and guide. If you book a tour, you have to arrive with your tour bus.

Visiting the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is FREE with $7 USD parking charge and we were able to put our names on a standby list. There is no estimated time and we waited 2 hours to get the notification.

Onsite museum range from $19 - $24 USD for Adults.

Only Clear bags are allowed in. Purses can’t be bigger than your phone.

This was an entire ripoff. Why would anyone wants to have an audio tour when you can not get into a park? They did not allow us to get in. And then we found out that we have to pay for parking AND entrance to the park, attendant asked us to go aside and got $20 cash from us without any receipt to let us in! What a crook! Tripadvisor should be ashamed of this scheme

One of the most beautiful memorials I've seen. It's location within the Pearl Harbor bay and snow white color in contrast with blue sea around is really eye catching.
Make your reservation online for a 1$ fee to avoid queuing in the stand by line.
Have in mind the time on your ticket is the time of the boat departure, so you need to be 10-15 min earlier onsite.
The whole visit lasts around 45 min with transport there and back. At the memorial you're about to spend 15 min which is quite enough. It is built right above the wreckage and you see the ship beneath you.
At memorial's far end is the remembrance wall with all the victim names inscribed.
Below it, on two smaller side stones are the names of the attack survivors who passed away over the decades later. Their ashes are also placed in the wreckage what you can learn at the plaque at the memorial.

Very emotional and somber experience. This was our second time here and was able to bring my sister for the first time, feelings are still overwhelming about what happened here.

The Arizona experience is one of the most moving and emotionally stimulating memorial tours you’ll ever do. You can see the memorial from the Pearl Harbor piers, visitors center and Ford Island, but nothing compares to the barge tour where you witness it up close.

The barge tour is operated by National Park Rangers and active duty Sailors who are very professional and knowledgeable. Prior to embarking, you’ll shuffle into a theater and view a brief film about the attack and days leading up to it.

A few things to consider.. this attraction is free-ish and planning ahead matters. Officially, visiting the memorial itself is supposed to be zero cost, but you do have to pay a $1 online service charge for your ticket and parking is ~$7 in the visitors center lot assuming you’re driving in. If you can, highly recommend booking your time slot weeks in advance in order to have more control of when you go. When you’re planning your trip to HI, perhaps this is the next thing you book after your flight and hotel. Slots book up incredibly quick and same-day tickets are not offered.

To get your tickets, use “recreation.gov” (this is the official site). In a Google search, other unaffiliated tour shark sites may pop up to get you to book through them, which is both unnecessary unless you’re seeking help with transportation and will be much more costly.

This is a year-round operation and when you go doesn’t matter too much. Just know that AUG and SEP will likely be the most hot and humid and JAN and FEB will likely be the wettest.

Last tip: you may have heard that the Arizona still leaks oil to this day… this is true. The best place on the memorial barge to witness this in is the right-center of the far side (facing Battleship Missouri). There’s a pocket of the ship in direct view of that area that constantly spits oil and you can see the discoloration in the water clear as can be. Overall, this is a must-do and an epic, well-preserved piece of American history.

A must see on your visit to Oahu and Pearl Harbor. Very sobering, for sure. Take the moment in given the history of this memorial. Buy the $1 tickets in advance to avoid the standby line.

The Arizona memorial boat ride, visit of site along with the introductory film and museums are well done!
The only cost to access this site is $1.00 per person when selecting the day and time online to visit.
Can do this visit without a tour.
