My husband and I did a three-day, four night hiking trip in August 2023. It was wonderful! Hikes were Deer Mountain (day 1), Cub Lake (day 2) and Wild Basin (day 3). We especially enjoyed both Cub Lake and Wild Basin. Phebe was a tremendous organizer. The motels she picked out were good (especially Allenspark Lodge) and she was always right on time to pick up and drop off. We had great meals at the nearby restaurants that Phebe recommended. All in all the trip was smooth as clockwork. If you have the chance to do this trip, do it!

I was looking to do a last-minute solo hiking trip in Colorado in mid-September. Weekday shuttles to the trail heads are not available after Labor Day, so I would have had to rent a car. I also needed timed entry permits to access the trails, some of which were sold out. Phebe’s Footpaths trip solved both these problems, and offered so much more in the way of safety and convenience.

Each day, Phebe provided transportation to the trail head, detailed maps and instructions for the trail, and a hearty sack lunch. Having the lodging and luggage transport taken care of was a big benefit. The hotels were perfect for my needs, and the Allenspark Lodge stay at the end of the trip was very special.

As a solo traveler, I really liked the idea of someone knowing where I would be on a given day, and when I was expected to return. That being said, Phebe’s group was so friendly and welcoming that I ended up doing very little solo hiking!

Phebe has been doing this for a while and it shows. Everything is very well planned and organized. She goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy, and she even facilitated my doing an extra hike on the final day since I had a late flight out. I highly recommend the Footpath’s Colorado trip!

I truly enjoyed this trip - a great getaway to wonderful hiking, and without the stress I often have in planning. I went solo, and was prepared to hike alone and enjoy this solo time, but it was also natural to hike and connect with some others - which made for great conversations, and perhaps new hiking buddies to go on trips with!
As others have said, the accommodations are simple but clean, and the final ones more rustic - but that comes with the charm of family style dinners and real connection with the people you’ve been with all week. Unplug and remember to live in this moment!
I believe the price supports such “simplicity” (as opposed to much more expensive options - such as BackRoads).
Nor are these hikes guided. Phebe is kind and no-nonsense. She sends you on your way and sees you at the end of the day.
I was happy for difficult - I would say these hikes are slightly more challenging than advertised.

Highly recommend and would definitely do again!

This was the most amazing trip! Phebe was so organized and gave us the perfect amount of information to get the most out of our hiking days with helpful wildlife tips and when to send a text so her pick up would arrive when we finished. We thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility to join others in our group or hike on our own but ended up making some fabulous friendships! The accommodations were perfect for Inn to Inn hiking with comfortable beds in quiet places. The Allenspark Lodge was a gem saved for the last 2 days!! Amazing food, fun company and a cozy, comfortable place where we could stretch out and enjoy the Colorado sunsets and pictures of our days on the trails! Huge thanks to Phebe for making it all so worry free and anticipating our needs. We’d definitely do this again and highly recommend it!!

This trip was exactly what my sister and I were looking for. Fabulous and challenging hikes, great directions and daily advice provided by Phebe but essentially on our own in the park. And bonus for meeting such a wonderful group of people! Every day was different and the views were all stunning. We’d definitely do another Footpaths trip.

It was a wonderful experience. The hiking was difficult but Phebe kept us on course with good directions and maps. The exercise and views made it all worthwhile. Our fellow hikers were a delight group to hike with.

My wife and I were looking for a "bougie" hiking experience where we could just basically show up and walk, and everything else would be taken care of for us. We didnt have to carry a backpack, our luggage was shuttled to the next inn for us, and logistics were already determined. We got all of that, and more. We found the end-to-end nature of the hikes to be a pleasant surprise - no car shuttles to arrange, no loops or out-and-backs. Phebe had that all arranged. We got to experience the park doing hikes that we otherwise wouldnt have been able to do on our own. Really appreciated being able to set our own pace, and walking back to the inn on a couple days. When there were van pickups, Phebe made it so we never had to wait long, which was something we were worried about before the trip. Loved the inns right by good dining, even a grocery and liquor store in one case. The final inn was our favorite, and by then we were constantly chatting with the other hikers, which only enhanced the experience. Great trip. Just show up and hike!

My son and I had a brilliant time walking in the Rockies, thanks to Phebe's meticulous planning, well-researched routes and super accommodation and recommendations for eating out in the evening.

It was such a treat to have everything sorted for us - and more! Phebe was very considerate to cater for our own needs and requests when asked. She was always happy to go the extra mile to accommodate them, including a memorable (and highly recommended, if you're at all interested in the history of National Parks) visit to Enos Mills' cabin at the foot of the Two Sisters mountain.

Trying to research suitable hikes, how to get there, the park permit system and just plain how to get to the start of a hike if you have no transport of your own, had proved almost impossible even with t'internet from the UK. So it was great to have had all that done for us. All we had to do was make sure we were ready at the right time for our pick up each morning, and at the end of the day not forget to order our favourite sandwich fillings for our packed lunch the next day!

A particular pleasure, thanks to Phebe's planning, was sailing past the long lines of vehicles queuing to get their permits into the park in the morning. Oh, and sharing meals and stories with Juanita and family while staying at Allenspark Lodge at the end of our trip!

Having done several overnight backpacking trips, my wife and I were looking for an inn to inn experience where we could enjoy challenging hikes but sleep in a hotel bed at the end of the day. The Walter Tishma Way trip perfectly fit the bill. Owner Phebe took care of everything, including advising on making dinner arrangements given it was peak season. All we had to do was show up! Communication before and during the trip was great and we had a ball. The scenery was beautiful, the hikes were a delight and we met some great people. I highly recommend.

Our family of 5 completed our second 5-day trip with Phebe this summer, and it was everything we hoped for and more. We did this trip in the summer of 2020 when our kids were 19, 17 and 15, and everyone loved it. When I asked them what they wanted to do this summer, I offered Europe, Hawaii, whatever, but they all said "Mom, can we do that same hiking trip in Estes Park. That was so awesome." Sure! The meticulous planning and route guides by Phebe, the cool hotels and great food, and the phenomenally beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park make for a wonderful family vacation. Thank you Phebe for another great trip!
