I discovered this by complete chance and loved it. It got me away from the mid town tourist area. It is safe, clean, and has lots of restaurants and shops along the way. The only thing I did not like is too many bicycles and scooters so it can seem precarious walking. But that was more of a nuisance than a reason to stay away. I loved my evening strolling along.

We enjoyed the stretch of the Beltline from Ponce City Market to Piedmont park - clean, safe, good sunshine, plenty of other people out enjoying a stroll!

Today I biked from Piedmont Park all the way to Pyor Street bridge on the far south side. Yes, it was raining and I got wet and mud covered. This is NOT for the faint of heart. I am an intrepid cyclist ready for adventure and light on my feet. You MUST have a gravel bike and be willing to haul your bike up and down hundreds of stairs. You must also be a whiz kid on the Iphone if you are going to figure out how to get on and off this trail and you are not a local. The website promises a lot, but essentially is terrible. More details below. I also want to qualify, I love this stuff!! These trails are the future and this needs to be done so much better. Atlanta is not there yet, not by a long shot.
This urban trail leaves a LOT to be desired. Others have posted about the lack of wayfinding and signage. I completely agree. I spent an hour researching and found the "access points" feature incomprehensible. Text descriptions of side roads may be helpful, but probably only for the locals who don't need them anyhow.
--The trail is NOT connected to much of what matters, despite the website's hyperbole. You cannot access the entire vibrant business area with Whole Foods, right in the center of the trail area. What? You can see the trail as you are walking on Ponce Avenue, but honestly, you are miles away from a reasonable access point. At least none I could find as a cyclist/ pedestrian with a phone in hand. (More on the hilarious way you actually get on the trail later.)
--Much of the "nicest" part of the trail is essentially in a tunnel of new high priced condos. I am sure these tenants love the trail, it feel like it is designed for them?
--Actually I take that back, this is a trail that has forgotten it's a trail. Yes art, connecting areas, and tax credits and studying the urban dynamism are all important and I agree. But this is a trail that seems like it's designed by a committee. You go from these glitzy new high rises to a mile later feeling like you are in a zombie movie. Why not at least pave the trail? This one water filled tunnel was almost too much for me, but I ventured on. They had one light shining into the dark flooded tunnel. It was hilarious. The website has more about studying the trail and housing and other stuff, than the trail itself. My thinking is that Atlanta has so much going on and this is so popular still, they don't even need to make a good trail. It's a shame. They should visit the Monon trail in Indianapolis, it's not hard to make a good trail like this, Come on Atlanta, get your act together!
--I tried to find a way to get on this trail. Try accessing it on a bicycle from anywhere around Home Depot or Whole Foods, or Ponce City Market. It is, essentially an utterly inaccessible bike trail by bike. This is preposterous! If you roll your bike through the restaurants at Ponce center, then take an elevator (only one near the All Bird store) Up to the third floor, then finally reach the utterly inaccessible inner sanctum the trail, itself. Atlanta is just so bicycle unfriendly, I think this has colored the entire trail design. Yes ,yes, I know multi use. but the highest best use, other than walking is a bicycle. And then you use signage to make it safe for all users.
The trail also is only paved for a shockingly short section, in my opinion this is shameful for Atlanta's best trail. It's 2023!!!!!
The rest is a really big rocky gravel.
Anyway unless you are a pretty serious gravel biker or someone in your twenties this is probably NOT the trail for you.
Well, maybe you just want a little stroll to the Patagonia store and then a bar, fine. That's cool too. I can sound a little judgy sometimes.

Started at Ponce City Market and walked North. The Trail didn’t seemed well marked to us and we had to back track around Piedmont Park. The paved walk was busy on a Saturday morning.

Nice paved walking route with wide variety of graffiti/street art and metal sculptures along the path. Many cafes, bars, etc with indoor and outdoor seating, and good people-watching. Not 5-stars because even on a cloudy, drizzly Fall Saturday, there many many other people enjoying this path too, so needed to dodge bikes, skateboards, baby carriages, and other pedestrians.

We walked from the Inman Park neighborhood. This is a fun walk with lots sculptures, restaurants, and scenic sites along the way.

On a weekend day, this cycling/walking path is jammed with people wandering from neighborhood to neighborhood. The industrial area of Atlanta has been paved over with parks and restaurants along the path the make for a bustling gathering of humanity.

We were visiting the Ponce City Market and walked out on the Beltline.
Rented a couple scooters and went to Piedmont Park. The trail is full of people walking, jogging, bike / scooter riding, just a really cool atmosphere.
This was my daughters favorite "attraction" while visiting Atlanta (she is 13).
To the opposite side you'll find bars and other food places.
It's a really cool experience, definitely worth it.

We walked along the trail on a food tour and enjoyed all the vibrant energy and seeing all the street art and murals. It felt like we were getting a great sense of the local scene. Also, we enjoyed seeing the very cool metal sculptures. I totally recommend it.

The beltline is one of the coolest things about Atlanta. We enjoyed all the murals and art installations that we saw along the way. The sidewalk itself is nice and smooth, great for a stroller or any other wheeled vehicle.

Best place to park to walk the beltline and not worry about your car? Don;t mind paying.

I suggest to pay parking at Ponce's Market, they used the money for Atlanta's Beltline manteinance.

I want to take a 3 year old visitor walking the eastside trail. Where is the best place to start, end and park car. Or any suggestion on park the car somewhere nearby and take uber/marta to the starting point, then take uber to the car at the end point without going the same route back to car. It sound complicated, but just want to reduce walking for the 3 year old, since we don't have a stroller. Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

Where is the closest free parking to the northernmost part of the BeltLine Eastside *Extension* Trail? The Publix Super Market at Ansley Mall would be ideal, but there is a sign forbidding it.

I would park in the residential neighborhood just to the east. You may need to walk a block or two to the Beltline. There are no public lots. As you say, commercial properties do not provide parking for the Beltline.

Is it feasible to do this:
Park at botanical garden, walk to Piedmont park, to walk the belt line to get to Ponce market?
Feasible as in- is the area walkable from all these destinations?

If you are looking to do a 2 to 3 hour roundtrip walk and you walk fast it would be. Walking the park could be one hour by itself.
