Visit to the national aquarium of Malta
On my holiday to Malta I took a trip to Maltas national aquarium. That is built on the stunning coast of malta. With views of the Malta coast and Mediterranean sea. The aquarium is built to look like a star fish. The aquarium is pack full of sea life for you see and explore. From all the 7 sea of the world. The best thing at the aquarium is the glass roof tunnel where you can walk through. The tunnel walk through makes you feel like you under water in the ocean. Don't worry they have sharks for you to see in the glass roof tunnel. There is a restaurant there for you to get some food and drink alongside a gift shop. There is also a cafe and kid park out the side aquarium that's over looks stunning Malta coast and the Mediterranean sea. I would highly recommend it a visit to national aquarium of Malta.

    The Nicest Little Aquarium!
Our boat tour was cancelled due to high winds so we visited the aquarium and took the behind the scenes tour. The aquarium was well organized, very family friendly, and the tour was very informative. I especially liked the fact that they had a display featuring women scientists. The shark tunnel was great too!

    Underwhelming
We enjoyed about 2hrs here, while the aquarium was nice I was underwhelmed and expecting more. Our UK aquarium are the same size if not bigger. There were some more usual fish and we lovely the jelly fish section. It was very busy and hard to move around at times. There's a nice play park outside.

    Wonderful aquarium
Wonderful aquarium with many interesting sea creatures and reptiles. Especially enjoyed the tunnel to walk through. Lots of information to read on the way round. A very pleasant way to spend 1 or 2 hours. Lovely gift shop at the end. What will stay with me was a note on one of the videos which said that once the earth was covered by sea and that there is nothing to stop that happening again…. Nature does not need us but we need nature!….Very true, makes you think.

    Great museum!
We loved this museum. Filled with beautiful animals and fish. The condition of the museum is impeccable, it is very clean and above all very beautiful. There were people, but it was decent. We were able to admire everything in time. It's to be done in Malta without a doubt!

    Brilliant start to our holiday
We checked into our hotel in Qawra but our room was ready so we walked to the aquarium and spent a couple of hours looking at the fish etc., it was a great place to visit, you learn about Malta and it’s wildlife. It is well run, and clean. Usual gift shop which seemed to be reasonably priced.

    Small but decent aquarium
It is a small aquarium and kind of expensive relative to its size. If you have small children then this is a good visit because you can tour it in an hour and the kids will be entertained. I would have liked something more unique or something to make this place stand out more. Alltogether it is a decent visit and would recommend to visit once if you have spare time in Malta.

A very nice place to bring all ages very kid friendly with a great view.
I upgraded to add the behind the scenes tour and enjoyed this and how friendly all the workers I interacted with during my tour. The spaces are clean and the sea animals are well cared for and healthy. This is geared for all ages and is family friendly and can be done in an hour with the behind the scenes adding another 30 min. I also enjoyed the store at the end and they had many national geographic items which are high quality games, shirts, gifts with local gifts and my favorite was a book on Malta. I stopped to enjoy the view which is overlooking the ocean and a great place to stop for a meal or dessert. I did enjoy eating the halloumi salad and a berry shake and I recommend you stop at the dessert window with many great treats.

    Aquarium
A small aquarium with a variety of species of sea life and some reptiles. If you want you can pay additional money so that they give you a mini tour and explain how they prepare the food and how they feed the animals. The staff was so kind and we had an amazing time there.

    A+ Aquarium
Excellent morning at the aquarium. Great displays and easy access. Enjoyed every minute of our visit. We have visited aquariums in many countries and this is amongst the best. Very modern building and beautiful location. Great restaurant too.

Me and my partner went to this aquarium this morning. Whenever we travel, we always manage to find an Aquarium, it is something we always seem to enjoy.

For just short of 14 euros each, we expected the experience to last at least an hour. This attraction only took us 20 mins to walk around it all. Compared to other aquariums, I don’t feel like this is value for money. The size of the building is deceiving. It looks huge from the outside, but the majority of that is for the huge diner and the gift shop. The attraction itself is under earth and made up of a few rooms.

Although there is a good range of different species of fish, I feel the price should reflect the time it takes to compete this attraction. 1-2 hours is very unrealistic. This is only realistic if you were to stop and read all information on every iPad provided about every species of fish.

Good for kids or windy / rainy days.. not massive takes about an hour to get round. Tanks are interesting. You can pick up a €3 discount voucher in town so with that the entrance fee seems reasonable. Cafe has a nice view of sea and coast line.

Unfriendly female at the entrance/ticket booth, even on a "slow weekday morning in February" 😱

Overpriced tickets, adults with 3 Euro discount & seniors = 12.90 💸

Very small aquarium and very small tanks for the poor fish.

Dark everywhere, watch your step!

Noisy, unmannered children (2 schoolclasses) ruining even more the almost 30 Euro/30 minutes experience!

No thank you!
Non merci!

Visited with a young family and whilst the aquarium itself was a little small, it was more than enough to keep them entertained. The walk through passages for children and adults were the highlight, particularly where the sharks were present. A good photo opportunity for the family is taken at the start (chargeable) but worth doing given they have a large green screen. Most of the staff were very polite, friendly and chatty, the exception being the English woman at the ticket selling table who came across quite stroppy. The gift shop has a nice range of items including the obligatory fridge magnet and other items to keep children happy. Finally, the cafe and restaurant was exceptional. I ordered a calzone and some pasta and a few other dishes which were fantastic. Table service was also excellent. So much so, I complimented the chef and the restaurant manager. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit for those with a young family.

I visited with a friend two days ago, the staff was extremely polite and helpful. The arrangement of the water tanks and the aquariums was really well thought and entertaining. The windows were super clean and allowed us to enjoy the marine life to the fullest!

I've seen aquariums before. This particular is well organised and gives you the feeling of being within the sea. We visited it on a cold rainy day and it was a very good option to get in and stay warm. It was big. We had so many creatures to see... fishes, sharks but also reptiles. The decoration is excellent and the lighting helps a lot to love all the exhibitions. We watched a very good presentation "fishes & sharks feeding" by a loving girl marinologist (I believe she was called Michelle but I may remember wrong). She was so pationate and so caring about the sea and all the creatures she immediately passed her zeal to us. She even answered later on to questions and we had a good conversation. Anyway, we had a lot of pictures, the kids loved it and we were so happy to spend time with god's creation. A must see if you have a couple of hours visiting the northern part of Malta.

Worth a look around. If you get the chance do the behind the scenes tour. Costs about five Euros extra, but you get a guide explaining how the place runs and a chance to look at the fish being fed from the top of the large tank. The tour from what I remember is only twice a day, but if it ties in with your visit it is worth considering. Also good bad weather option.

Such a beautiful aquarium!! Great set up. Beautifully designed in and outside. Worth 6 stars!
Friendly helpful staff. Everything is impeccably clean: tanks, toilets, restaurant.
We visited for the first time 12 days ago and immediately changed our tickets to a family membership for a year. Since I've been there already 3 times within 10 days.
During carnival for the kids: Mickey and Minny, feeding the fish, scavenger hunt, crafts (a kind lady helped the kids making Venetian masks)
Everyone was wearing a mask and everywhere there are reminders to do so.
With QR code there is more info about the fish per tank. Sometimes indeed difficult to scan the QR code, but often there was a display with touch screen with info as well. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. A big well done to everyone who has contributed to realize this gem for Malta!
