After visiting Ischgl, Zell am See was more our style. The views of the lake and surrounding mountains were incredible. The resort is smaller than Ischgl and less glitzy. The smaller, family atmosphere provided a relaxed skiing experience with gentler slopes and smaller line-ups. A traditional mid-mountain hut (Glockerhaus) served a delicious lunch topped off with odd taxidermy (groundhogs and small deer) on the walls! The ski resort is set in old town with historic buildings. The apres-ski is toned down compared to Ischgl. I highly recommend this ski resort-especially for families and people seeking a more laid-back skiing experience in a stunningly beautiful setting.…

We visited as winter hikers, not skiers but the atmosphere is fabulous with stunning views (weather permitting!) and a choice of reasonably priced places to eat and drink. I would add that for non skiers using gondolas and cable cars is expensive in Austria as opposed to places like France and this area is no exception and what winter hiking tickets that are available have significant restrictions placed on them with no Alpin 3 in 1 area card available.…

Excellent resort. Would highly recommend the Ski school on site ...excellent instructors for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers :-)
