About
Tegalalang Rice Terrace comprises a series of cascading rice fields. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the area is especially popular during sunrise and sunset. Take your time to explore the terraces, visit the nearby Bali Pulina plantation, and have a go on the mountain-edge swings. To see the fields at their greenest, visit in March, August or September. They're also green in December and February but are slippery due to the rainy season. The rice terrace is commonly visited on a tour of Ubud which includes other places of interest like the Monkey Forest, Tegenugan Waterfall, and Tirta Empul Temple. – Tripadvisor

Let me say I have never seen a place more impacted by Instagram than Bali. If you hate the photo stops and flocks of tourists, it's going to be difficult to get away from here. Just one example, Nusa Penida had no roads for cars until 7 years ago when photos of Crystal Bay started going viral (our local driver told us none of the locals visited that area before Instagram) and the tourist influx demanded infrastructure. You'll find the same tourist influence here. Given that, the terraces are striking. Plan time to walk around. We hiked down, crossed the small river, hiked across the opposite side and then worked our way back. It can be (like all of Bali) hot, so take it slow and bring water. There is a place by the swings to buy drinks. Wear good shoes. It's muddy and slick in spots. The two folks in our group who paid for the swings said they were really fun. This was our second favorite stop in Bali behind our day snorkeling with the Manti Rays. Definitely worth the stop.

    Beautiful simple lush
It wasn’t busy when we went, and I was staggered at the beauty of the place. I love how the locals have made lots of jobs for the village, and made something out of what they would consider to be nothing, good on ‘em. It is a bit annoying hearing the swing screams dotted around, but such a fab place.

    Swing on the rice terrace
Must check weather forecast before going here as there is nothing to explore in the rain. Honestly, the view to the terrace was quite disappointed to us! Rice terraces in the Philippines and Vietnam are much more beautiful. The swing was the activity we loved the most.

Go for the view - not the insta story!
The view over the rice terraces is just amazing (as long as the weather is good) It can get pretty crowded here as it is definitely on the Bali “I must get my instagram story” itinerary but that being said, it is well worth the trip. It’s about 20 - 30 minute drive from Ubud and you don’t need to spend too much time here. Unless you want the photo on the swing with the dress etc etc etc. There’s plenty of other less insta worthy photo opportunities that were free when I was there and if you want to spend longer - walk down into the terraces - plenty of locals employed as guides to show you more..

    Walk the Tegalalang Rice Fields
Tegallalang Rice Fields is situated in a valley that offers extraordinarily scenic lookouts over the terraces and surrounding green landscape. You can get your instagram moment but I would recommend actually climbing down and crossing a small stream and get to the rice fields on the other side. Wear good shoes! It’s well worth it - will take about 30 mins to 1.5 hours depending on how far your walk!!

    Cool
We are one of a few that crossed over to the other side and hiked over. Drink stop available. Hiking shoes is a must. Take your time to walk and not rush coming down and fall like we saw a set of visitors, of which one broke their flip flop. There is also options to cycle, Zip line or fly along a line. You can also sit on one of their swings.

    Visit the rice terraces
We stopped here during an all day private car tour around Ubud. We had lunch just down the street and we’re able to walk over. The scenery is amazing, walking through the terraces was amazing. I had a real sense of how steep the terraces are after walking down and then up! It was not too crowded but I could see it getting busy and not as enjoyable because the paths are narrow, as re the bridges and certain walkways.

A nice view from a distance
Nice rice terraces to be observed from a distance, and the views from some of the nearby coffee shops are good. It’s a shame it’s been kind of ruined with the photo shoots, and stupid instagram spots around the area, as this really takes away the authenticity of it. We even saw people having professional photography shoots here, ridiculous really. I’d say come and enjoy it early morning but don’t bother paying the entrance fee, unless you’re into the whole photo shoot thing.

    Definitely worth a visit!
We loved this place - it is so beautiful and surprisingly accessible. We just drove up, parked on the side of the road and went for a walk. The gentlemen who sold us the tickers also helped us park. At the end of our walk, we sat and viewed the whole space from the balcony sipping a coffee. Really nice...

    Beautiful!
On of Indonesia' s main attractions. It is a beautiful scenery where also you can do activities like swinging, suspended bicycle ride on a robe, and zipline. It is a great place to take photos as well. It takes around 30 minutes to visit the terrace.

We arrived at 7 to avoid the crowds and yes we had a peaceful experience and enjoyed the hike and scenery. Only encountered 1 annoying influencer. But at the top are several cages with wild animals. They looked sad and distressed. Completely ruined the experience for me. In one cage was 3 squirrels desperate to get out. People dont want to see that. Set them free

It was a very pleasant experience to be able to walk along the edge of the rice fields in a beautiful rural atmosphere that was still natural and while enjoying playing on swings, Play Fox hanging bikes, after that we relaxed while drinking very fresh young coconut water......

This place is beautiful but if you aren't looking for photo ops for your Instagram or TikTok, I would skip it. The views are now cluttered with backdrops for wannabe influencers, as well as zip lines. If you're interested in a bit of a walk, I guess you can get away from the crush, but I would just skip it and try to find someplace that hasn't been spoiled by it's own popularity.

Learn all about rice paddies and the economics of space saving terraces for hilly areas. It’s really a marvelous area to view, and made super fun by the zip line, swing, and sky bike - fun!

Tegalalang rice terraces a Unesco site are a true wonder of nature. The expansive fields of vibrant green rice paddies stretch as far as the eye can see, creating a picturesque setting that’s perfect for relaxation and awe-inspiring moments. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in Indonesia’s natural beauty

The Tegalalang rice terrace is one of the place we wanted to come back to since our last visit few years back. That magnificent greenery of the rice terrace. One could just sit there whole day sipping on a cup of coffee.

Alas... it has been turned into an overly hyped attractions with mega swings and ziplines. I love ziplines and all those adventures. But they don't go hand in hand with a rice terrace. It seems people are there now for the mega swing and ziplines rather than rice terrace. A pity.

Wonderful views for photos and it was fun watching people on the big swings. It is not suitable for people with any mobility issues - uneven surfaces and some high steps. It has been jazzed up for tourists with the swings and there can be some extra costs as well as the basic entry fee.

The rice terraces looked beautiful, but then you had tourists swinging in front of you with long flowing trains or the sound of tourists zzzzzipping along the ziplinesnwhich traversed the rice terraces, this totally took away from the beauty and serenity of the place and to just simply pay to come in and enjoy the quietness and beauty of the lush green terraces of new rice seedlings. Beautiful lush landscape ruined by tourists swinging on swings mounted on very tall stately coconut palms, or
