Our friends live in this area so we are often here to visit. It is always a pleasure, well-served by the subway, some good shopping and food nearby. The entrance to Prospect Park, plus the big arch. Grand apartment buildings.

This impressive arc forms the grand entrance of Prospect Park. Although Flatbush Avenue is incomparable to Champs Elysees, the surrounding is still quite remarkable and offers a sense of pomp and stateliness to Brooklyn.

Fantastic sculptures and impressive arch! Spectacular reminder of the importance of a United States thanks to Lincoln, Grant, and so many brave soldiers.
Not quite sure how the fountain relates but I want to go back in warmer weather to see it running.

finally took the time to walk around and over this monument. have to say it shows some neglect - no fountains functional, and pretty unkempt, but still it stands as a testimony to Abundance, for which I'm grateful.

Right by the park, wonderful architecture, near the stunning Botantical Gardens, and the Brooklyn library and museum. A must see area.

An impressive arch in the middle of a roundabout greets you as you exit from the subway station. Worth a stop on the way to Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The Arch of Triumph, right here in Brooklyn! Commemorates the Civil War, of course. Lots of monuments to the Civil War here, so it must have been a big deal. This is an impressive entrance to Prospect Park and up the hill along Flatbush.

It is easy to see the grandeur that once existed in this plaza. But, it is also easy to see this plaza has been neglected and the local plant life is winning the battle for dominance. If it is ever restored, it will most certainly be a sight to behold again.

A Historic Circle In Brooklyn, Grand Army Plaza is the cross roads of Brooklyn.
Connecting about a half a dozen road that branch out to different parts of Brooklyn.
If you every visited Paris or the Washington Park in Manhattan this iconic arch will remind you of their arches.
It is also known in a comedical way to get lost if you don't know the direction you should take.
There is a staircase that will take you to the top of the arch for a beautiful view of Prospect Park, Lower Brooklyn and Eastern Parkway. At times it is monitored by the NYC Park Ranger.
On Saturdays is also know as the Landmark that leads you to the largest Brooklyn Greenmarket. With many vendors from the tri state area fresh flower, fish, diary, vegetables and fruits and many other food products.
One problem is the parking in the area..

The Holiday Inn in downtown Brooklyn is only a 10 minute walk to Grand Army Plaza. It’s highly rated a comparatively inexpensive for New York prices. It’s located at 300 Schermerhorn St, Brooklyn, NY 11217.
