- Ali Robbo26 contributionsGood fun, no need to pay for a tour! After reading lots of reviews we decided to get the subway and save a load of money! We were staying in upper west and it took approximately an hour either way. The walk from the subway to the area was really straightforward and took approx 15mins. We went on a Monday evening approx 6pm and it was great. A few tours but not too busy at all, I would hate to think what it would be like on a weekend or peak times. It was a fun thing to do.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 13 December 2022

The light display were out of this world, definitely haven’t seen this in my life. No one does Christmas like NYCVisited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 December 2022
- LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,189 contributionsBrooklyn traditionChristmas is the best time to visit Dyker Heights, an upscale neighborhood in Brooklyn. A stroll around the ornate Christmas decorations has become a local tradition. Seeing how each house compete with others for the best and most impressive festive layout is of much fun.Visited December 2022Written 20 December 2022
- Queenstravelbuff15,359 contributionsOveratedA bit overrated I went on Christmas day and it was packed, It will full of tour group To be clear you do not have to do a tour group to, Its FREE. I went there via Car, Parking is scarce and was only able to leave it for a short time. I live in NYC and its not really a big deal for me to get there, but Im not sure why a tourist would spend at least an hour each way on a bus or train to get there , when they have a limited amount of time, Lots of nice displays in Manhattan alot closerVisited December 2022Written 26 December 2022
- Adrienne CNew York City, New York236 contributionsSpectacular holiday light displayTook an hour long subway ride to get to Dyker Heights, but it was well worth it! Agreed with people below that it is not necessary to pay for a tour – you get a perfectly good experience walking around the neighborhood and experiencing the sights on your own. It has always been on my NYC bucket list to visit Dyker Heights after I first watched Dash and Lily during Christmas 2020, and it certainly does not disappoint! Each house’s attention to detail and holiday spirit is incredible. What’s even cooler is the deep sense of community one feels when walking around the beautifully lit streets.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 January 2023
- PrincessWashington DC, District of Columbia199 contributionsA bright spot of one’s trip ⭐️We came a bit early, around the 1st week of December so perhaps not every home was decorated but more than plenty did. It’s so festive and fun! It’s easy to wander around at one’s own pace and it wasn’t too cold, though I suggest definitely dressing warm and even bringing gloves. Crowds weren’t too bad. This is such a nice and happy community spirit, much appreciated ~Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 March 2023
- Charlie tStockport, United Kingdom3 contributionsBreathtakingSaw this tour advertised before we left England, we booked a tour through our travel agent. It did not disappoint , if you love Christmas you will love this. The tour guide told us that most people pay up to 20,000 dollars to have their houses decorated by professionals. It's truly amazing, on the way back to the hotel the coach stopped at Brooklyn Bridge , so we could take photos of the manhatten skyline. I would highly recommend this tour,Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 26 September 2023

Fantastic display of Christmas lights on almost every house. Carnival atmosphere in the streets packed with families out to enjoy the holiday and spirit of the season. The work put into the displays by the homeowners is incredible!

We booked a city tour in New York to see the christmas lights in Brooklyn. It was the worst organised trip we have ever experienced. We arrived well ahead of time but despite being first there we were ushered off and on three different coaches in total chaos before getting on the very last bus. One of the employees of the tour company shouted and cursed at us and ruined our trip and we asked to be let off the coach and return on our own which was refused. Trip Advosor have just washed their hands of it after we spent hundred with them on this week away - never again - no support at all - they tell me that despite booking it through them it has nothing to do with them.

We took the tour so we could experience real American life. The bus was packed and we couldn’t sit together, I have diagnosed chronic anxiety and need to be by family. Too many are taken on this trip and the ratio of people to guide is not safe. The guide didn’t do a gentle relaxed stroll as she says and marches you at pace so you are looking for her with a light wand rather than the homes. She is like a school trip teacher lining people up and shouts at people if they phone her to say they have lost her. Asked her a question and she was like get in line for people to pass. Downright rude. On the bus more and it goes so fast you hardly see anything. Told we had time to get hot chocolates from those on street corners and then tells you there is no more time but then says we can do another street as we are running early! You cannot hear her when there are around 30+ in a group and when you email to ask for a refund or partial refund they say they fulfilled the terms by having a bus, a host but fail to recognise the main event is what you are there for and it is absolutely rubbish.I suffer with osteoarthritis in the hips so had I known what I know now that there is no slow pace I would have avoided. Houses we saw were nothing really spectacular and there were a lot with no decorations. I’ve seen more in the streets in the UK. They don’t accept constructive criticism or recommendations and it is a big con as in this country if you are dissatisfied they offer you a refund as this trip is certainly not cheap

Yes. You’re walking the streets. Providing they allow on coach I wouldn’t think any probs
È possibile vedere le luci anche dal 20 novembre? Vado a nyc dal 21 al 26 novembre e mi chiedevo se alcune fossero già accese!

Hi Everyone, me partner and I are hoping to go this one evening during our 5 day stay. Is it easy enough to find yourself or best to book onto a guided tour?
Is there any best time to go? Early evening etc? Any suggestions welcome, thank you.

We are thinking about visiting Brooklyn in December and wanted to see the Dyker Heights lights. What's the best way to view them? Are there tours that will drive you there and then you walk around? If so, can you recommend a good company?

We went with Slice of Brooklyn. They pick up in Union Square and do a guided tour.A couple of stops in addition to stopping by Dyker Heights. You then are dropped off back at UNion Square. We enjoyed it !!
