A must-see in the heart of Historic Savannah, Georgia.
It is truly nestled in the heart of historic Savannah, Georgia about ¾ mile south of the river. Forsyth Park stands as a timeless gem, enchanting locals and visitors alike with its beauty, serenity, and rich history. I have visited this park many times and it seems well-kept. There is parking on all sides of the park as well as entry from every part as it is open to houses and businesses on all sides. There is a main walkway running straight down the middle of the park with a large fountain in the middle. Strolling along the park's tree-lined pathways, you'll be captivated by the lush greenery, vibrant flower beds, and majestic oak trees draped in Spanish moss. The tranquil atmosphere invites you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and indulge in a moment of peace. The park's open spaces provide ample room for picnics, recreational activities, and leisurely walks. There are quite often people selling items or showing art along the walkway. Whether you're seeking solitude or looking to connect with fellow park-goers, Forsyth Park offers something for everyone. There are lots of sights and landmarks in the park so if you visit, take the time to look around for various historical landmarks. If you visit the city, be sure to stop by and stroll the park. It is worth taking a moment. Enjoy

    Beautiful park and fountain
Visited the park yesterday and today. The fountain owe between the oaks is very beautiful. There are a few monuments in the park as well, but the fountain is the place where everyone is taking pictures. Beautiful mansions on Botha sides of the park. Worth for scroll or a picnic.

    A Must Visit
We visited this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful park, fountain, farmers' market, artists and neighborhood. There are playgrounds for kids and the Collins Quarters Cafe too. We absolutely loved it! It felt like a miniature Central Park!

    Wonderful trip!!
We stayed at The DeSoto and loved it. Trolley tours were educational and enjoyable, and River Street was lots of fun and amazing things to see. Forsyth Park was beautiful and entertaining, and lunch there was delicious! We’ll go again I hope soon to visit places we didn’t have time for this trip!

    Pretty park
Forsyth Park is iconic and if you are traveling in Savannah one of those spots that you are expected to see. The fountain was purchased for $2,000 by mail order and has been several different colors. It is a very pretty little space.

I Thought The Fountain Would Be Bigger
Forsyth Park was a great green area and the fountain was pretty. However, I thought it would be a little bigger! We had a nice time exploring the areas beyond the fountain too like the playground and Civil War monument.

    Underwhelming
Again a little underwhelming for me. On the Saturday we were there the farmers market was on in the morning which made it more than average but without it there wouldn’t have been a huge amount to see. As city parks go this wouldn’t even feature in my top 10.

    Early morning photos
The highlight of this park is the beautiful backdrop of the fountain for photos - it's quite romantic. Went on a Wednesday afternoon in July and although it wasn't as busy as o thought it'd be, it was quite hot out. The best time to take the photos was early in the morning when I went back the following day at 7am just after sunrise.

    Amazing trees
The trees and fountain are beautiful. I visited on a weekday morning. There were people walking or jogging mostly around the exterior of the park. There were also people playing tennis and basketball. Parking in the lot seemed to be free. I walked in the interior parts of the park and it wasn’t very crowded. I was able to take photos without lots of people in the background. I saw a few potentially homeless people including one laying down and wrapped in a sleeping bag or something. I also saw a woman alone doing yoga. I didn’t feel unsafe at all. The fountain was great, but I loved the amazing trees the most.

    Active park
This is a lovely park in the historic district with lots of activities going on. There are always people enjoying the park, trees and also has a farmer's market, music festivals, artists and of course the lovely fountain. You can find clean public restrooms here as well.

Beautiful historic park with three beautiful water fountains. Love the history and enjoyed seeing it at night by a pedicab driver.

When it comes to appreciating quintessential Savannah, Georgia, a case has got to be made for spending some quality time in Forsyth Park.

Ever try an internet search for images of Georgia (especially Savannah)? Well if those search results featured beautiful lines of Spanish Moss adorned trees beckoning you to a beautiful fountain, yeah you were probably gazing at pics of Forsyth.

This 30 acre sanctuary is nestled within the North Historic District and features an outdoor concert venue, large grassy areas for frolicking (or catching some rays), basketball courts, softball fields, tennis courts, and a sizable playground for the kiddos.

No big deal you say? Not sufficiently unique to pique your curiosity? Well in that case I “see” your ambivalence and “raise” you a “fragrant garden.”

Hello? Is this 🎤 on? Yeah, you heard me just fine. Although the enclosed Fragrant Garden was primarily intended for the enjoyment of the visually impaired, all are welcome to “sit a spell” and enjoy the various scents found wafting about.

You can spend as little (or as long) as you like here, but failing to make some time for Forsyth Park means that you only “mostly” experienced Savannah.

And that’s…Henry’s Take.

The park is beautiful. When I go there, it is very calming. It is an easy walk with the dog. It is worth seeing. It has an added bonus of the fountain and the architecture that surrounds the park

We saw the park from the hop off, hop on bus and were able to jump off here and explore. The Park is pretty, especially the fountain. I think it is a definite place to see if you're in Savannah. We were there on Easter Sunday so it was a bit busy. We also walked to the end of the park where you can see The Mercer house from "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".

A GREAT CITY PARK
Forsyth Park is everything a city park should be without all the noise and loud music found in so many other city parks. Lots of green grass for picnics, exercising, dancing, sleeping etc. Tennis and basketball courts constantly in use. Trees and Trees and more Trees. A beautiful park.

We were a little underwhelmed with this spot. The fountain is really pretty and there are nice walking paths, but other than that it’s just a park.

Forsyth Park was not on my list of things to see when I left home. Fortunately, my daughter-in-law had it at the top of her list and it was out first destination. It was about a 20 minute walk from our hotel --on level ground, it was an easy stroll with many interesting homes along the way. The park is fantastic! We wandered the shaded paths, totally enjoyed the fountain and took lots of photos. Don't miss this exciting place!

Beautiful place to sit and look at the scenery. There is a wonderful restaurant on site and would highly recommend it called Collin’s Quarters.

Walking distance from the river front, Forsyth Park is a beautiful tree covered park, perfect to sit or stroll. The park is well maintained with restroom availability.

It definitely gets peopley on the weekends, but it's so vast, there is room for everyone!

There are no shortage of things to do.  Play, relax, excercise or let your children work out their wiggles on the expansive lawn area, visit the iconic fountain, a perfect photo opportunity, and relax on a bench to the sound of the water.

Stroll around the perimeter of the park to admire the meticulously maintained historic homes.

We were appreciative of the drinking fountains available to refill our water bottles.

There are benches scattered throughout the park affording opportunities to sit, relax, people watch and take advantage of the shade made available by the huge live oak trees adorned with spanish moss.

Forsyth Park is the perfect place to spend an afternoon, grab a photo for the gram, stroll or sit, and people watch in the shade.

No matter your motivation, your time here will be memorable.

Wry clean park with the famous fountain! I happened to be there the day they “turned the fountain green”. That was very neat to see and a great experience to see how packed the fountain area can become. The trees were amazing and there is a nice restaurant on the edge of the park wheee you can get drinks to go.
