Walked through one corner of the park and had two different folks asking me for money.
It's not the city's fault I know but it makes the experience of seeing the Forrest Gump movie location rushed and less romantic and more uncomfortable for a date.

Chippewa Square is similar to a number of other squares in Savannah. Besides the fact that it is the square where Forrest Gump was waiting on the bus there is not much that is unique about it. It takes less than 3 minutes to walk around the perimeter and since it does not take up much time it is definitely worth seeing. Forsythe park is a walkable distance from Chippewa Square and worth seeing as well.

Visited this square along with many of the other 22 squares laid out in this historic city. Loved the big trees with Spanish moss hanging everywhere, took loads of pics of all the monuments and signs around the squares. Great for history buffs and just general knowledge.

We walked through this square, it's one of many in Savannah. Beautiful lawns and benches but no Forrest Gump bench. There was however a statue of the founder of Georgia, James Oglethorpe. Enjoyed our walk through the park.

Chippewa Square was laid out in 1815 and is surrounded by beautiful historic homes and the oldest building on the square, is the Savannah Theatre (c.1818), as well as the First Baptist Church (c. 1833). Beautiful Spanish Moss filled live oaks, attractive walkways, benches, and historical markers adorn the square. There is much greenery, shade and a peacefulness when walking the square. In the center stands a magnificent statue (c.1910) of an imposing James Oglethorpe, Savannah and Georgia's founding father. The Foley House Inn (c.1896) also sits on the square and not too far is the cool little Six Pence Pub & Restaurant. Yes, this is the square where the famous Forrest Gump scene was filmed.

Hard to miss when walking through historic Savannah. This is where the bench scenes were filmed in Forrest Gump. Turns out the benches were all props and you can see one in the Savannah historical museum. Otherwise, pretty similar to all the other nice squares in the area, each with its only story and bits of history.

Took a walking tour of Savannah on our own with a purchased app. We were looking for the bench that was in the movies Forrest Gump and learned from a kind old man it was in the museum. It drew too much attention and plants were getting trampled but he told us where is sat so we could see the movie angle.

Nothing special; there are a dozen places just like this in downtown Savannah. This one, however, is immortalized/famous for the Forrest Gump film scene.
The bench has been removed and placed in the history museum.

This is a beautiful park. I don’t know that you would need to spend more than 15-30 minutes. The tour buses come by regularly to show the Forest Gump spot. There are bushes in the spot where the bench would be and nothing to mark it if you didn’t know. The park is very pretty though

This is a place you have to visit just because it was made famous by Forrest Gump, but it is a little underwhelming. The bench is gone, but it's still kind of fun to be at the icon spot. Our guide had a couple of interesting tips like when they shot the movie, they were shooting in the direction of General Oglethorpe's behind! Also, the church with the famous opening feather scene is across the street.
