    Highly recommend!
Such a great tour! Our guide was personable, thorough, and seemed to truly enjoy explaining the history of the property. You will leave with a better appreciation for what Jim Williams did to preserve Savannah’s historical homes.

    10/10 - Amazing Tour!!!
This experience is utterly amazing!!! The staff is very kind and knowledgeable, and they provide an amazing services. We were greeted by Carol, who helped us schedule the tour. She was incredible. As far as our tour is concerned, Zack did an excellent job and was able to answer all of our questions. Overall, I recommend this tour 100% if you’re in the Savannah area.

A tribute to Jim Williams' skills as an art and antique dealer
My wife and I went for a tour as we are both fans of The Book. The tour was fantastic, goes well beyond what is in the book, and is well worth the time. The house is still being run by people from Jim Williams' family and they have painstakingly kept it up. Some family members still live on the second floor, so the tour is of the first floor only. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the house and the paintings and antiques that Jim Williams collected over the years as a very successful antique dealer. We both learned a great deal. The guide glossed over the more salacious aspects of Jim Williams' life, so don't go looking for that.

Beautiful Historic House But A Very Rushed Tour
We took a tour on 8/4/23. I am a HUGE history fan so I absolutely LOVE taking house tours and learning about the family’s that once lived there. This house is stunning and Jim Williams did a lot of great things for the city of Savannah, GA as well as other cities in the south to preserve its history/historical houses. When we took the tour they took us to the gardens as well as 4 rooms and a hallway. I do wish that the tour talked more about Jim Williams, his life, and what great things he did than talk about the antiques, where they came from, and how much they are worth during most of the tour. I personally thought it was rushed and I couldn’t really get to see the rooms very well because there were a lot of people. I think I would have enjoyed it more if there were less people on the tour and got to look at the rooms without feeling rushed.

Go for Curiosity, stay for the craftsmanship and beauty
Had the pleasure of touring Mercer-Williams House on a slow mid-week afternoon. Somehow I lucked out and was the only person in my time slot. My tour guide Max, was delightful and we were able to spend the tour discussing the beautiful architecture and craftsmanship of the home.I had read “the book” and watched the movie when they were first released. Always surreal when you experience a place firsthand.

    Fantastic
Wonderful tour! Blair did an excellent job of explaining about the house and its history. Went at a good speed. Only negative is the same spot you purchase tickets is in the tightly packed gift shop register line. It would be nice to have separate lines.

    Pretty good Tour
I was disappointed that I only got to see one floor, and a few rooms. Also, no photos. But, having Max for a tour guide made up for it. He was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and willing to converse and answer all questions. It ended up being worth the money, just to be able to say I did.

This was a tour that I truly enjoyed.
5 out of 5 stars for this tour. We are traveling as a family of adults (not an option for reviews) but what a great tour. Grady was our tour guide and he was fabulous. I had taken a tour years ago and enjoyed it. I was glad to bring my daughter and mother back. The home is well preserved and lovely. The garden is gorgeous and the antiques never disappoint. Grady made this tour fun and informative.

    Worth a stop
If your a fan of the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil you’ll love the tour. You aren’t allowed to take pictures and that was a disappointment. The history of the house and old Savannah made the tour worthwhile. The architecture was and still is amazing. Enjoy

You only get to view a few rooms on first floor. Dining, tiny bathroom and parlor. 80% of the tour was book plug that i think was written by family member. Basically, your admission fee pays for the owner’s lifestyle. You won’t get any info about furnishings or architectural details.

This is a very short tour. I would agree as a must see. But only expect to go through four rooms. Really takes only 35 minutes. Fun to see if you're a fan of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

Well we went the last tour of the day on April 22 2024. Our guides name was Max. The tour is suppose be 45 minutes to an hour and we were done in 35 minutes. He yawned several times throughout the tour as if bored, did not talk about the murder in the study, and rushed us through to be done with his day. Since being here we have done several tours and so far all the guides have been informative, interested and/or excited about what they are talking about, and fun. Max was horrible. Suggestion, do go at the end of the day but if you do and Max is your tour guide; don’t expect much!

This was a fantastic tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. He covered a little bit of everything, from Jim Williams and his collection to the movies filmed at the house to the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." This is a must for a trip to Savannah!

Zach was an amazing tour guide. He gave us a great background of the house and of Jim Williams. One of our teen daughters had a ton of obscure questions about the house and its design and he knew all of the answers. Both daughters enjoyed the tour immensely, which is not always the case when visiting historic sites and homes with them. If you've read or seen Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, you must tour this beautiful home when you are in Savannah.

After watching The Garden of Good and Evil, this brought it into reality. Our guide did an excellent job of letting us know the Hollywood changes on the reality of the home. The only disappointing part is that the home is still the residence of William's nieces so there was much we were unable to tour. I still recommend seeing it as our guide was very informative and knowledgeable about this house and others we planned to visit.

We came to this house, as likely many people do, because of its prominent part in the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The first floor, which is all you see, is beautiful and our guide gave us info on each room. However, it felt like she was rushing us through (the whole thing took maybe 30 minutes?) and after a perfunctory intro to each room, she said, "What questions do you have?" Inevitably someone on the tour dominates this kind of conversation and almost all the questions were about the book and the family it describes. My husband and I were actually more interested in the architecture and the specific pieces chosen for each room. Would have been SO nice to see the second floor, too, though our guide said family members still live there. So — a mixed bag. Definitely see this if you are a fan of the book.

Interesting short tour of property and accomplishments/ contributions to the city of Savannah by James Williams in the ‘70s and ‘80s. This home was featured in the movie Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil. Honestly, we expected more from the tour but good way to learn more about Savannah history. Located in a beautiful spot (though Savannah is just so beautiful just about anywhere). $14
