This is yet another very impressive building that sits just north of Brooklyn Bridge. It’s a massive structure! Recommended.

This is a big civic building in the City Hall complex, actually the one you notice first when you arrive in the area because it is so tall and wide. Handsome old style.

After a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge, we continued as it was a beautiful December evening. Shortly we came upon this magnificent building in the fading light. Research, after the fact, revealed that it was the Manhattan Municipal Building completed in 1915.
The Building was designed in the Roman, Italian Renaissance and Classical styles. The centre tower soars 15 stories above the lower part of the building, which stands 25-stories. On top of the central tower is a 20-foot tall statue known as "Civic Fame", fashioned by sculptor Adolph Weinman.

You can't enjoy these places any more because there's a pall of fear hanging over anything that's official.It bristles with security and anyone you ask who looks like they are familiar with the area takes two steps back when you approach them. I do like the architecture but it's too stressful an experience to hang around to appreciate it

I walked the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan and saw a beautiful grand building to the right. I took a few photos (I always like old and well designed buildings). I found out later that it is the New York Municipal building and one of a few largest government offices in the world. I love the look and the exterior achitect of it. It is the prototype of a few buildings such as Terminal Tower in Cleveland, and the Wrigley Building in Chicago, and was the first skyscraper of NYC. The official name is The David N. Dinkins Municipal Building and is the first building in NYC to built with the design of the Subway stop in the building. Cannot miss the building if you walk the Brooklyn Bridge. No need to go in to see the office unless you know someone and get to see the view of the city.

My wife and I loved the architecture of the Manhattan Municipal Building. We walked around this area on our way to and from the Brooklyn Bridge. Without even entering the building, you can walk around the well-kept grounds. We found it to be a quieter spot compared to most of busy Manhattan.

The New York municipal Building, is located next to the Brooklyn bridge. If you are an architectural lover, then it’s a must go attraction.

All this area is to be done on foot, there is a lot to see, the City Hall Park Visitor Center, NYC Municipal Archives Visitors Center, United States District Court, African Burial Ground National Monument, Woolworth Building and much more ... but the most important thing is that from here there is the pedestrian entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge, to make a nice crossing at sunset to see it from the side of Brooklyn.

This is a wonderful building with a lot of interesting things about it. It is the home of the second largest sculpture of a woman in NY - and she is golden and stands barefoot on top. It is known as a wedding cake - maybe because there were 30000 weddings per year held there. It was the first to have a subway station under it and was a rejected design for grand central station. Whilst it got inspiration from the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool UK it was the building that influenced the design and construction of the seven sisters of Moscow that in turn influenced other buildings around the world. This is just scratching the surface of a wonderful structure now sinking amongst the modern giants.
