There's usually a musician playing John Lennon/Beatles music and there are several benches to sit and listen. Plenty of touristy Beatles mementos sold nearby.Visited November 2022Travelled with familyWritten 15 January 2023
- Harriet PCornwall, United Kingdom47 contributionsJohn Lennon memorial; good energyIf you are a Beatles and John Lennon fan then you should go here if in the area. It is near the Dakota hotel where John Lennon was shot so there is something very humbling about going past the hotel and then coming to this memorial spot. There was a singer there who summed it up perfectly that there is an energy there that is high vibrational and it felt special to take the time out of a busy day and sit down at the memorial and listen to music before getting on with the business of life. Do make sure this is somewhere you visit within Central Park and extra bonus if there is a musician there.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 February 2023
- natters14Portsmouth, United Kingdom2,537 contributionsLovely, reflective part of the ParkI found this part of the Park, really peaceful and reflective and it felt quite emotional. Although it was fairly busy, there was a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, made nicer with a good busker singing and playing guitar to Beatles song, making it more atmospheric. Recommend - well worth a visit!Visited February 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 April 2023
- William SMoreton, United Kingdom44 contributionsThe self promotion of humanityAs a son of Liverpool, i knew this was a must see in New York. I felt the warm Bohemien vibe walking through the local area. I entered the memoral. The utter shamelessness and selfish promotion for a selfie with v sign towards eyes is crass.People sitting on mosaic for a photo. You should be ashamed!!. I knelt at the side and placed a hand on the mosaic out of respect for the person and the nature of his representation. Secondly, we have a guy busking beatles and John Lennon songs with microphone attached to his ear. The singing had no relation to how the song sounded. Also guy was saying "Let's get this party started". Its not about not singing, it's about singing to reflect the environment and the artist. So if you have not got the gist already, i wasnt happy. So if you want to see selfish, overindulgent individuals this is a must see!!.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 June 2023

The landscaping and the memorial are lovely, near where John lived and died. Some musicians were playing his music for a sing-a-long. Lovely on a sunny day. Lots of places to sit and relax.Visited May 2023Written 6 July 2023
- La Dolce VitaEngland, United Kingdom63 contributionsNice place to visitA nice tribute to John. A statue would be better, we were told his wife didn't want a statue but there are many other statue tributes to others in Central Park that look majestic. Thankfully, there were some roses on the tribute. I was glad there was as didn't have the opportunity to buy any to place on there. Busker singing Beatles songs by it. Everyone was respectful when we visited, it was busy but no one standing, sitting or doing selfies on the tribute!Visited August 2023Written 1 August 2023
- therichastillStevenage, United Kingdom2,556 contributionsAll You Need Is LoveOn your visit to Central Park I would definitely recommend a visit to Strawberry Fields. It is a beautiful, tasteful tribute to John Lennon who used to live in New York City and was sadly killed nearby. As well as the Imagine mosiac there is also the Garden of Peace. There is a plaque on a rock nearby to show the nations that have endorsed this. It is a beautiful place to contemplate life and that we need more love in our lives.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 22 October 2023

Something I hadn’t seen before, people sitting ON the memorial to take pictures!! Seems very disrespectful, I’d like to know what others think.

It is right off west 72nd street and is a short distance into Central Park. The memorial is beautiful and I recommend seeing it.

It is a nice memorial and worth checking out if you are a Beatles fan or in the area. It was really crowded, which took away from it.

There really is not much to the Strawberry Fields in Central Park. There are a few memorial items and lots of people singing Beatles songs.

I am not sure. We were there in August in the middle of summer and it was very hot. You would be able to do the walk around the teardrop shape garden path, but if it snows the "Imagine" mosaic on the path would be covered in snow. If no snow, I would say go. There's bound to be other visitors there as well as buskers.
