Neighbourhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

We chose to come here to the Rockefeller centre so we could see the empire state building and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Amazing views and the staff were great. It was cold though so if visiting in March or earlier makes sure you’re well wrapped up, Would definitely recommend.

The staff at the Rockefeller were the friendliest of all of the people we interacted with during a three day stay in New York. As a person who is terrified of heights and lifts we had absolutely no plans to do anything but walk around and have something to eat, however, I knew my husband would love to go up to the top so I lingered near the entrance plucking up courage to suggest it. We were spoken to by a lovely young lady called Caminta ( sincere apologies for the spelling but I was in a high state of panic!) . Long story short...She gave me confidence to give it a go. I think she knew how frightened I was so once we had paid for the tickets she got us in the lift immediately before I chickened out!! I cannot describe the sense of elation that I had once I was up there and looking across New York. Even now I don't know how I did it. All of the staff were wonderful so this was our best MY experience. Thank you everyone!!

Beam experience at the Rockefeller. Expensive but you only do it once!
Book for just before dusk so that you can get a drink and then linger at the top to watch sunset and get a different set of photos - fronted by Empire State Building by day and night.
Don't wear trousers that go to half mast when you sit on a beam!

There is something specials about every moment you spend at Rockefeller Center from the historic art and architecture to the observation deck. Described as one of the greatest projects of the Great Depression era, located at 45 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, it is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering 22 acres between 48th Street and 51st Street in Midtown Manhattan. Construction began in 1931 and the first building opened in 1933. Today, the 14 original Art Deco buildings span the area between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, split by a large sunken square and private street called Rockefeller Plaza. There is so much to see. In the 1949 movie "On the Town," Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly and Jules Munshin, three sailors on shore leave, didn't see it all in 24 hours. Start at the Channel Gardens, the plaza's main entrance, a 60-feet wide, 200-feet long pedestrian esplanade. Other notable buildings are Radio City Music Hall, RCA building, RKO building, British Empire building, Time & Life building, the famous ice skating rink and the Prometheus statue, the 1934 masterpiece by sculptor Paul Manship. And, of course, in December everybody shows up to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree. It is New York's picture postcard.

Great experience, we attended On a rainy day not expecting much of a view due to it been a last minute booking. Even with the rain it had amazing views. There are two viewing floors and you can pay extra to do the famous picture, which we didn’t do due to the weather.

Accessible for wheelchairs and prams, although the toilets in the Rockefeller tower didn’t have changing facilities for babies as the doors where locked to it and knowbody in site to ask to open.

Overall good for the view.

One of my favorite neighborhoods in Manhattan because of the excellent urban design. It was built as a new town in the middle of the city during the Depression. Risky plan, but it worked out eventually as the buidlings are so beautiful, the location so superb. Arrange for a guided tour to understand all of the details, some of which you might miss on a casual visit. Fountains, art deco, sculpture, decorations, soaring skyscrapers, plus some good good and drink. Great area.

Historic point of New York famous for the ice rink and the lighting of the Christmas Tree, the statue of Prometheus and more. I was there in those days but I certainly did not stand in line in the middle of the crowd to see the tree light up. I saw him the next day. I thought he was older. And by the way, I've seen more beautiful trees both in New York and elsewhere. The nice thing was the star on top. Apart from that, Rockefeller center is a complex of 19 buildings that is a city within the city, The Big Apple and definitely worth seeing.

This is our second visit to New York. And every visit, the Rockfeller Center was decorated in a different way. It is a center that is always in transformation! Space for trade, artistic presentation, demonstrations and meeting point, worth a visit at the end of the afternoon, to complement with a visit to the Top of the Rock and take a picture of the illuminated Empire State!

Rockfeller Center is a building that began construction in early 1930 and has become one of the tallest buildings in New York and especially an iconic piece in terms of its style, stature, cinematic references and history. Its magnificent 360° terrace offers an incredible view of South Manhattan in Central Park. If there is only one building to visit in New York, it may be this one. Beautiful view also of the State building empire!

Rockefeller Center is a complex that includes 19 buildings and covers several blocks in Midtown Manhattan with "30 Rock" being the central focus. Built in the 1930s by the Rockefeller family, it is an Art Deco masterpiece. Inside is the NBC studios where the Today Show, NBC Nightly News, Jimmy Fallon, and Saturday Night Live are filmed. Top of the Rock is the observation deck on top of 30 Rock. The views are amazing and while the historic skyscraper is not as famous or as attractive as the Empire State Building, I would argue that the views are better including the incredible unobstructed view of the Empire State Building when looking south. This is also where you fill find iconic Rockefeller Plaza with the outdoor skating rink and Christmas tree during the winter months.
