Our hotel and many of the things we visited were right on Broadway near the Woolworth building. Directly across the street was a nice park on a triangle lot with a great building. I had no idea it was City Hall.

City Hall is the oldest City Hall in the United States, the architecture of the building is just beautiful.

Decent view from outside, building is in City Hall Park and next to Brooklyn Bridge. Great spot to relax, eat from food trucks, and people watch.

We didnt go inside. We just passed it as we were walking to another attraction. It is a beautiful building and worthy of a look if you are in the area.

If you're going to Brooklyn bridge, this is at the end anyway. This building has been home to many an historic event in New York and American, so it definitely is worth seeing, but probably not worth it as the sole place to come. More classically European in design that most buildings in the city.

A huge metropolis with US history, world class deco architecture, fantastic museums and art galleries, great restaurants and entertainment, Central Park, Wall Street, the one and only Broadway, Times square, an apex of global culture, and on and on and on.
Room for improvement; of course: figure a solution to make all sirens more horizontal to narrow the sound from bedrooms above street level; more public restrooms, esp in Central Park; better crosstown traffic flow, esp midtown; reduce the number of "red coat" in-your-face tourist bus folks; and try to solve the issue of homeless and street beggars for their sake and the city's. We love you New York.

We were doing a "Free Tours by Foot" Brooklyn Bridge walk and our starting point was at the Jacob Wrey Mould Fountain in the City Hall Park. While we were unable to see the interior of City Hall, we learned that it was constructed in the early 1800s in a neclassical style and is the longest serving city hall structure in the US. It is a beautiful building set in a park. The fountain is also very classical and is a nice place to relax and watch the world literally walk through and by. Surrounded by some historic buildings that once tried to be or were the "tallest building in the world."

The New York City Hall was constructed from 1803 to 1812, and is the oldest buildingned as it was built for. According to the information, it is a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, both its exterior and interior. For those who are in architecture and interior design art, this is worth a time. The catch is, you need to make reservation for both group tour and individual tour, For me, not much time but to walk around the Park (where the building is located) and have chance to take photoes is worh a stop. For those who are not familiar with the area, it is located just when you get off the Broolyn Bridge walk and just walk past the Metro station. It is there.

Hi, marriages are actually handled at the City Clerk's Office Marriage Bureau at 141 Worth Street, not at City Hall.

I arrived a few minutes late so I didn't catch the name of the guide but I know she was with the Public Design Commission. She was knowledgable and enthusiastic with a wonderfully open easy smile. This made me very comfortable and eager to hear what she had to say. There was some time spent outside of the building, viewing archive photographs of various events and notable individuals who had stood where we stood. We then went in and viewed the beautiful interior including the gorgeous staircase and rotunda, the Governors Room which held some of the City Hall Portrait Collection and peeked into the City Council Chambers where live discussions wee taking place. The tour lasted a little over an hour and imparted a great deal of information. I enjoyed myself and was thankful that it was a quiet day there, allowing for some time to enjoy the building without too many people.

Where to find out about my family heritage? I went to the library the last time in New York but couldn’t find any information. I was told to try city hall.

How large is the City Hall in New York (length, width, height, how many floors, etc.)? There seem to be no technical specifications about the building.

Hi Bill,
I'm not sure of the size but most city halls are considered large office spaces to conduct the city's day-to-day business. The uniqueness of New York's City Hall is the Architecture and historical significance and paintings dating back centuries.
