We're stopped here on s Saturday and we're the only people there for a while. The bartender was rude. The beer selection was interesting. The atmosphere was lacking as was the welcome. We enjoyed our drinks and left.

Groundswell was clean, lots of games, and had great rock n’ roll music selections! Nice brewery to hang out! Loved their brown ale!

Terrific IPA
Dec 2017 • Friends
I love IPA, and they have one of the best I've ever had if not the best. Good friend introduced me to the place. Very well run and not fancy. It's all about the beer.

Totally authentic, local San Diego microbrewery.

Nice selection, good service

Beers are fine. Wide variety of beers to choose from. I didn't experience any unique or stand out beers. Taste like when I used to make beer from kits. Very generic, not malty - if anything slightly dry. No complaints, though.

Great San Diego Brewery
Dec 2016 • Friends
A great addition to the superb San Diego beer scene. The staff is friendly. They have good beer and a super sized Jenna game. Great stop after hiking in Mission Trails or Cowles!

Fun place to sip a delicious beer!

Nice selection of great tasting craft beer. Owner teaches culinary arts and business finance at the San Diego Art Institute when he is not running around on brewery business, brew festivals, etc.

This place is awesome. Their beer is very tasty and they seem to always know what kind of music I like. I truly recommend visiting Groundswell. The people are friendly, and pets are welcomed.

Great local beer
May 2015
Groundswell is in an unassuming location, in an area that isn't on the path of many brewery tours.
Which is exactly why this place is great.
IPA #5 and #10 are solid beers that they often sell out of.
Their ginger Saison is one of the best unique beers in the area.
Everywhere will have an IPA. Most are not as good as they are here.

Smaller Brewery near Mission Trails
May 2015 • Friends
This a small and fairly new brewery that's opened up in Grantville, just off of Mission Gorge Road. They have a fairly decent array of beers, sell individual tasters of each one, and have pints as well as growlers available. It's a small but friendly place. If you're in the area, it's worth your while to stop in and sample their brew. The Ginger Saison as well as the Hefe are very, very well made beers.

Nice mix of IPA beer
May 2015 • Friends
First time I came here was with a friend using a beer tasting card that had 10 breweries on it. The person behind the counter was not that helpful and kinda of put a damper on the visit. Because we enjoyed the beer, I bought a living social deal and came back again with another friend. This visit was great. Gentleman behind the bar was knowledgeable about the beers he was serving and had a positive attitude towards the customers. Easy to talk to.

The Place: located in a industrial area in a non-descript building. Interior is warm and inviting. It has a bar you can sit at plus tables and couches.

The beer: My favorite is the White IPA - citrus flavors with a slight hoppy taste. not your typical IPA ( I came back and filled my growler with it a little later). They also have a west coast ipa, a red, a nutty brown (similar to Newcastle) and a hefeweizen that surprised me. I normally do not drink hefeweizen beer because of the grainy feel to it. This one is light and you don't have to "Chew" your beer. I will be drinking this one again.

Overall: This is great place to sit and drink some nice beer and hang out with friends. I was in later in the day and there were families here as well. One last thing: they are pet friendly - you can bring your dog!
