This convention center has a great location, right on the harbor, so taking a break you can go out on a terrasse. The design is very linear, so it can be a hike between meeting rooms. The front opens in one part to gaslight district (many restaurants), but there are only a couple crossings to the rest of town. A big street and rail road plus Tram line block off access. The tram is very convenient to get to the Rail Station (transfer to a bus to the airport) or to harbor areas.

We came for the annual auto show but you don’t have to attend a convention to come here. The outside and the circumference of the convention center is quite accessible. Many fitness buffs actually come here to use the steep steps of the convention center to workout. Additionally many visitors local and out of towner would climb the steps to near the top where is a balcony like area to enjoy the amazing scenic view of the San Diego Bay and mariner next to it. You can also get an awesome view of the San Diego Bay Bridge. The sunset views are particularly beautiful. On the other side you can get a nice view of part of downtown San Diego and nearby Petco Park.

I attended a meeting at this facility. It's huge. The meeting facilities are good and it's in a great location adjacent to many hotels and restaurants. I made the mistake of have a quick lunch in the exhibit hall. The food was terrible and overpriced. It may have been the worst cheeseburger I've ever had......especially for $13. They need to do better.

The staff was always helpful and friendly, the food was very good at all of our big parties hosted there and the view was dynamite. My only complaint is the opening reception for our big convention there were not near enough seats for everyone and we we were there on time. May have been the fault of the planners and not the convention center possibly though.

First of all this place is big!! I was at a nationwide convention and we didnt even take up half of it. In my opinion it is hard to rate a conv ctr. There were plenty of restrooms, the location was right across the street from the gaslamp dist. and there were some good views Of San Diego bay from the back side. There are several hotels around it. The staff i did talk to were all friendly and helpfull

In 2022 - another year with the C-19 pandemic - traveled once more to San Diego to attend APEX - 2022 , the world largest event for the electronic industry.
Rules enforced at the convention center - proof of vaccination, or tests , face mask on premises and distancing - dependent on your choice.
Entrance on only 1 door where you had to show always proof of vaccination.
Overall they did a good job from this perspective.
Facility was great , as always , clean meeting rooms , very clean restrooms, the main ballroom setup with distanced tables and the food served was also very good.
Escalators and elevators were working at every point - so access was easy everybody.
Parking underneath the building - so you could park your car with ease if you were driving to the event.
Or a train station right across the street if you were using San Diego public transportation.
Clearly marked easy to access drop off/pick up points for those using ride sharing services.
Overall a great place to host any big size event , even in times like this ... if you have doubts attending an event here , I would say just go , you'll have a great time at a great venue.

This is a spacious conference center in a great location to the Gas Lamp District. The beautiful weather of San Diego makes this a great place to have a conference.

We were in San Diego for a gymnastic competition at the Convention Center and were really impressed with the overall venue. Lots of easy parking and terrific facilities. Highly recommend!

I've seen my fair share of convention centers as an accompanying spouse and this is my favorite. There are accommodations on both sides (Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton), plus many others in walking distance. Rarely are you going to be concerned about weather conditions. This is a good place to bring walking shoes and running shoes as well. There are plenty of stairs or you can run/walk along the back of the center on the waterfront. The waterfront view is spectacular - Coronado Island, the Navy berths, pelicans and dolphins. There are some beautiful sunsets. There is a trolley stop right in front, which will take you to most of the major sites (you can connect from the trolley to the #7 bus to Balboa Park) and you're within easy distance to Petco Park. There is a water taxi to Coronado Island ($6 round-trip per schedule or $7 each way as called) or you can catch the tourist hop-on/off trolley in Seaport Village. I thought the best grab-n-go food was at the Marriott.
