Top ways to experience Boston Opera House and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.

Saw Hamilton here. The performance was great, but the location was even better. A terrific theater, beautiful and great acoustics. Definitely come see a show here if you can.

This place is fancy from the time you see the outside and only gets more the deeper you go into this place.
Parking is impossible.
The crowds were unbelievable and made me claustrophobic.
The place is beautiful and you could spend hours just looking at all the fancy trim and art work.
Love to go back.

We saw Hairspray. It was fabulous. Packed house. We were in row S of the Orchestra great view. Seats are a little tight as it’s an old building, but comfy. The only real downside is the line for the ladies restroom. They really need another one. Staff were great though, with directing people to their seats and marshaling the lines.
Great place to see a show.

We came to see Wicked and boy were we impressed. The theater was absolutely beautiful, definitely one of the top three theaters I’ve been at. The theater literally did not have a bad seat in the house. The seats were comfortable, you did not feel cramped, plenty of room to be able to watch the show. The aesthetics and audio were perfect. I will definitely come back to watch any other production held here.

Grand Old Opera House. We have been to many different theaters and this was one of the best. Great old style opera house ( gaudy Italian motif, but perfect for its time). I'm glad they had the foresight to save this old gem. We sat in the Mezzanine but I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Staff were very accommodating. But they did require masks during the performance, and they enforced the requirement. Refreshments were ever expensive.

We went here to see "Mockingbird." Good play, excellent production, horrible experience in the facility. We were center aisle in the balcony. The seats in front of us were directly in front of us, no offset. As a result, for my $90+ ticket price I had a fabulous view of the back of the head of the man in front of me, though I managed to see a bit of the production on the far left and far right of the stage. Another problem: the balcony is steeply sloped (about 30 degrees in my estimation), yet there are no handrails going down the aisles. I am 78 years old, and this left me grasping in near panic for the tops of the seats of each row as I descended down the aisle to reach my row. Finally, the exits to the street are very narrow relative the number of patrons, so it took a very very very very long time to exit in a very very very very slow moving crowd after the performance was finished.

Beautiful location in the heart of downtown. Just make sure you have your vaccination card/picture and mask on hand or be prepared to stand outside with others that did not realize this requirement.

From the outside, this Opera House is very deceiving. It's tiny facade opens up to a lovely historic theater with an ornate marble lobby, gold ornamentation and lovely ceiling frescoes. I've seen Hamilton, The Lion King, Wicked, the Nutcracker and more here, and it's always a pleasure to visit this grand old Concert Hall. The staff is always extremely pleasant.

The opera house is gorgeous! It was a fantastic place to watch a live show. The acoustics were excellent. Management did an excellent job moving people in & out of the bathroom!
