About
At Bites of Boston Food Tours, we believe local food is best enjoyed when served in the context of your local surroundings. Our tour experiences are carefully curated to give you a 'taste" of Boston's neighborhoods, both literally and figuratively! During our tours, guests can expect to not only taste delicious local food specialties, but also to learn about the chef/owners behind each of these eateries, and to to visit and learn about unique points of local historical, architectural and cultural interest in each neighborhood. Our tour experiences are filled with food, facts and fun! All food tastings are included in the ticket price and collectively provide plenty of food for a satisfying lunch. Our tours cover less than 1 mile of total walking distance, and last between 2-3 hours, depending on the tour.

A great variety of foods to sample! There was nothing I DIDN'T like! Although the vegan ice cream really stood out.....!

Aww, thanks so much for joining us. Yes, we agree - the ice cream at FoMu is definitely memorable, and their seasonal summer flavors are truly sensational! The South End neighborhood really is a perfect place to explore a variety of flavors, and we are so glad you enjoyed it all!

Despite starting and ending the tour in a downpour, we had a really fantastic time! My partner and I are both pescetarians and although there we no fish options available, all stops accommodated us as vegetarians without making us feel like we were missing out on something amazing. We learned not only about the food we were eating, but about the restaurants, the people behind the restaurants, the neighborhood, and the architecture of the area. Our guides and hosts, Katie Barron and Natalie Pena, were both interactive, energetic, knowledgeable, and above all passionate about what they do and eat!! The portions are "just a taste," but after 6 stops you leave with a satisfied belly and full brain. Thanks again for a great afternoon!

Thanks, Michelle - we always appreciate our rainy day troopers and luckily, the food tastes just as delicious rain or shine! We are so happy you decided to join us in the South End, and hope to see you again next time your travels bring you to Boston!

Hi, thank you for visiting us again, and for taking the time to review your South End tour experience. We are thrilled to hear your guide was excellent, and that you enjoyed the tastings and our hearty portion sizes! Our experiences are carefully curated to focus on local eateries and Owners with both amazing food and stories, and all tastings are selected to illustrate the unique menu at each location. That said, we do not make changes the eateries included on the tour unless we have to, and we are very proud of the long-term relationships we have with the local restaurants. In the South End neighborhood, 3 of our tour partners have been a part of our experiences since Day 1 - 12 years! For added variety in terms of local establishments, we highly recommend visiting us for a tour experience in another Boston neighborhood. Thanks again for joining us!

Our guide Katie was great. Learned lots about South Boston. I’m disappointed because I thought we would be having traditional Bostonian foods like brown bread and beans, Boston Cream Pie, etc. so clearly I picked the wrong tour. That’s why I didn’t give you a 5.

Hi There, thanks for joining us in the South End neighborhood (not to be confused with South Boston). We are sorry to learn you were disappointed as a result of selecting the wrong tour, especially seeing as our Classic Bites of Boston tour experience provides EXACTLY what you describe, and is available for booking! That said, we couldn't agree more in terms of reading descriptions fully. We put a lot of time and effort into our detailed tour descriptions so potential guests can make informed decisions about our experiences. We are glad you enjoyed your time with Katie, and hope you will have the opportunity to join us again in the future for a taste of the iconic Boston classics!

We had a great time learning about the historical and cultural background of South Boston while sampling some of the most unique dishes. One of our favorites was the almond filled dates wrapped in bacon from the Orinoco. Our guides were very knowledgeable and we would not hesitate to recommend this tour to others.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share about your experience in the South End. We are so glad you enjoyed the tour and your guides, and YES, we agree - the datiles are one of our team's most favorite bites in the South End neighborhood! Thanks again for joining us, and for spreading the good word about our tours - we appreciate the support!

This was a terrific tour. The food was delicious and the history of each dish gave us a unique insight into Boston history. Our tour guide -- Alyssa (sp?) -- was knowledgeable and every stop was fun. By the way, the food was ample and we were actually unexpectedly full at the end of the tour. We highly recommend this well-organized and informative tour.

Had a great tour with Katie, our tour guide! She was super friendly, and definitely had the knowledge of the Boston South End. The food showcased the diversity of the neighborhood and I was definitely full by the end!

This was an EXCELLENT tour I highly recommend! The South End tour hits a good variety of ethnic restaurants & our tour guide, Katie, was excellent. You also find out fun & interesting facts about the history of the South End neighborhood (like statues made by a blind man or a tin roof on a restaurant etc.).

This gets you off the beaten path of some of the more touristy areas/restaurants & gives a variety of savory and sweet treats. We also had a smaller group (8 people) as we went during the week & our group members were wonderful to chat with too.

I WOULD NOT recommend eating anything beforehand though! I think it is in the tips that the food may not fill you up, but we were more than full from this tour. HIGHLY RECOMMEND-excellent company & tour.

It was nice to taste different flavors as well as some familiar flavors. Each stop was described in detail and all the establishments were welcoming and clean! Tour guides were great! Went away FULL and canceled dinner reservations! THANKS for a great food tour. (FYI - I have been on over five food tours and I would rate this one Excellent!)

I did the Sweet and Savory South End tour and Laurel was the guide. She was a fabulous guide and took the time to connect with all the guests, while staying focused on the details of the food and restaurateurs. As well as providing a really rich context for the South End – both in the older history of Boston and how it has evolved to what it is today. We definitely took time to admire and learn about the beautiful architecture that is so prevalent in the area.

The tour has bite sized portions (or slightly larger), so do not expect to get totally full. All the selections were delicious and quality.

And being gluten free, I was offered some quality alternatives – like a beautiful meringue instead of a flour pastry. So I don’t feel like I missed out on anything.
The food was excellent, the South End is very interesting, and most importantly, Laurel really brought the experience together by being such an attentive and enthusiastic guide.
