When we went to book a table the man on the front door was very kind and helpful. When we arrived at 7pm for our dinner we were able to eat at a table with a view. The waiter was ok during the meal and we all enjoyed our meals.
I didn't like that the waiter started to clear the table before we had finished our food. He did offer us to see a dessert menu which we declined so he very quickly got the bill. We felt a 10% tip was enough but he clearly didn't like this as he then took my water before I had finished it. When we left there were quite a few people waiting for a table so they obviously wanted to rush us.

Ate here twice and the food and value were very good. However there were no washrooms and we were told we had to use the fisherman’s wharf public washroom. It’s the worst washroom I have ever seen. Disgusting, filthy and unsafe. Not sure how the City of San Francisco would allow the design not to include onsite washrooms for patrons? At the very least if Boudin is directing its guests to the public washroom they should be helping to invest in a public washroom that is kept at an acceptable standard.

Only for tourist which do not know what real bread is.
I ordered a Tuna Sandwich and get a Chicken Sandwich 2 Dollars expenciver. So verify always your ticket before accepting to pay.
The Bread was Old like leder.
When I pay 14 Dollars for 2 littel piece of bread I expect at least a fresh product.
It was really disapointing.
Avoid this place.

Brave the crowds and have lunch here. Placing your order and waiting to pick it up can be bedlam, but the process works and you won't have to wait too long. My companion was after crab chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl but they were all out, so he opted for clam chowder in the bread bowl which he pronounced as great. Landlubber me went for the chili in a sourdough bread bowl and it was absolutely delicious. I never, ever leave food behind but there was no way I could cram in the last few bites. Just looking around this place at the sourdough bread creations is worth the visit.

Great concept to show the making and handling of the bread thru glass windows while u eat. Great service, even during an earthquake; yes our chairs shook. We found out why later. No Bathrooms, must use public bathroom across the parking lot for the whole street .

We ate at Boudin Bistro recently on a family trip. The atmosphere was fine and the server was very attentive and friendly.
I ordered the halibut in parchment. When the plate was served, the parchment was burned and the fish was over cooked. This pretty much ruined the meal.
Others in my party ordered a sole in butter sauce, which did come out and was very good.
Overall, I think the restaurant is good, just not enough attention to individual entrees.

Initially I thought a 40 minute wait would be intolerable. However, they have a brilliant setup for those waiting. As a first timer, it didn’t feel like 40 minutes. You can read the interesting history and be mesmerized with the baking process. We loved the bisque in the bread bowl and the kids enjoyed the pizza’s. It also helped that we had a great server. Highly recommended.

After having the necessary and yummy chowder in a bread bowl we went upstairs and spend some time watching the bakers work. You can see the dough being made and then pulled into loaves and then baked. Smells great and was fun to watch.

Great place to visit. Lovely fresh food made to order. We got great sandwiches and lovely chowder in the sourdough bread. Lovely quick place to eat and lots of seats outside. Would definitely return some day. Bakery is a hive of activity also with bread being delivered overhead to the counters.

Famous for being the 1st sourdough bread in San Francisco, I really enjoyed its Calm Chowder served in its classic sourdough bread bowl.
I was there on different days since I stay nearby, and had tried its different bakery items off its shelves - rather tasty when they go with Peet's White Mocha topped with fresh whipped cream or hot chocolate from elsewhere.
There is also an observation window where we can see the bakers in action from the street but its Museum & Bakery Tour was unavailable during my visit due to Covid in which I believe can be pretty interesting.
