Turtle Bay Beach
Turtle Bay Beach

About
Follow the path to the right of Turtle Bay resort to access this lovely stretch of sand. This public beach is an excellent spot for swimming and snorkeling, and if you’re lucky, you’ll spot a green turtle or even a monk seal. In the evening, park yourself at the restaurant on the beach for some delicious seafood.
While generally a family-friendly beach, take heed of the caution notices—watch out for strong currents and be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty. If you find Turtle Bay Beach too crowded, hike the short trail over to Kawela Bay.

A small beach right by the Turtle Bay resort. Plentiful parking and a nice beach restaurant. Didn't see many fish but the beach is very pleasant.

I’m not sure people who have reviewed this positively for snorkeling have ever snorkeled. There is nothing to see, if you’re not staying at the hotel it is an absolute pain to get to as well. The beach is full of children from the resort playing and enjoying themselves, which makes it great for families, but honestly there are more accessible, far better beaches for that which are not difficult to access. Also, no turtles. We saw tons of turtles all over the island, there weren’t really even fish here, low visibility, just a waste of time. The reviews make no sense!

have been to Oahu at least 7 times, and snorkeling is one of my favorite activities. Turtle Bay Beach did not disappoint. The public parking for beach access was spacious, and the beach was not crowded for a Sunday.
There was so much sealife to be seen compared to other beaches I have visited on the island . I did not want to leave!

Great little beach with clear water and lots of fish. Easy spot to walk in and snorkel. Free plentiful parking was delightful after all the chaos of north shore beaches.

We strolled down the beaches of Turtle Bay and enjoyed the beautiful sounds of the crashing waves and laid down for a few hours and got some rays. Beautiful and stunning !!

Spent about an hour there. My kids wanted to stay, but we had other reservations. Nice beach, but not one turtle to be seen.

We found this during my research of beaches to stop at on a drive around the island. It is located in the turtle bay resort, although the beach is open to the public. You do have to drive all the way through the resort to the back, just follow the signs for beach access. Then you will end up at the parking lot. It is a very large parking lot, but it was basically full when we arrived so we had to loop for a tiny bit for someone to leave to get a spot, but we arrived mid afternoon. There are restrooms and outdoor showers accessible by the beach. In the cove, there are views of the resort and of the rocks nearby. There is the bay by the resort, or you can keep walking past to a beach around the corner. There were plenty of people here enjoying their beach day. The sand is that coarse shell sand, so it isn’t soft. We thought there would be turtles but we didn’t see any. We walked around a little, and then we were off to our next stop. For us, there isn’t really a reason why you would stop here over other beaches.

Wasted this horrible morning. Only go early in the morning if u actually want to see something. Went early noon and saw two stupid turtles from the distance. Can’t go swimming because of rocks and algae and drive and hour there and an hour back for nothing. Only go if your close by to the place.

If you show up early, you can set up camp under the trees and enjoy the shady beach all day. The snorkeling is ok and the water beautiful. No real waves here.

Hi. If we’re staying at the resort and have a friend local can they visit us and use the pool with us? We’ve called and received two different answers.

Hi, Is there 2 access points to Turtle Beach and to the trailheads? I see some things saying you pick it up from the Turtle Bay Resort parking lot and others saying to park across from Kahuku Land Farm. Is the length of the trails and view the same, you can just start on one end or the other?
How often are turtles laying on the sand? What time of day is perfect to see them?

We saw them in the afternoon twice. You can see them in the water and then watch them come ashore.
You do have to watch as they blend in. I had to tell a woman who was on her phone that a huge turtle had swum up and come onto the beach less than 20 feet from her.
There is a beach about 10 km back towards Honolulu that seems to have them everyday- they also have volunteers on the beach to keep people from getting too close- some idiots even stand on them for "selfies". So you could go between the two beaches if you have a car.

Hawaii is beautiful all year round but the water is much calmer in the Summer months on the North Shore of Oahu. If you go in their Winter ( I think Dec-Feb ) the beaches on the North Shore
are very rough and dangerous for swimmers

We are staying in another location but who can we contact to rent beach equipment for the day? We would love to come spend a day and check out what you have to offer for our next visit.

and YES! The beach is public and there is a outdoor cabana where you can rent snorkeling and various beach gear.

Do you need to rent a car to get to the hotel?
Can you suggest some activities for small children 4-5 years old.

There is a great town called Haliewa just outside Turtle Bay so make sure you go there. Great shopping and restaurants. All the food trucks along the highway are excellent but make sure to visit Ted's Bakery. It's not just a bakery- they have killer sandwiches all on their own fresh bread. You should really rent a car. So much to see. I don't have small children but there were plenty of kids at the resort and there is a kiddie pool.
Is there any special place nearby the hotel or inside the hotel where can we spend my husbands surprise birthday party ??? Sepcial dinning place or any reccommendation will be a plus please

Pa Akai is a great restaurant in the resort and the food is outstanding. There really aren't any fancy restaurants on that side of the island I'm aware of. Check Trip Advisor?
