- BR_from_MNMetro Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota16 contributionsAuthentic and UpscaleWe really enjoyed the food and that the server explained what each dish was. It was fun to learn more about Hawaiian history and culture and the different dances were awesome! There is no fire throwing at this show, but everything was so wonderful, we weren't disappointed. Shout out to our amazing server Uncle Tim! Would definitely recommend this luau!Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 18 March 2023
- Rachel KFort Wayne, Indiana3 contributionsWorth the MoneyI was a little concerned because this was the single most expensive thing our family of 5 booked during our time on Maui. By the end I felt we got our money's worth here. From the fresh flower lei to the beautifully plated dishes. The food and drink were plentiful. The service was excellent and the show was amazing. We loved everything about this luau. We happened to see another luau while we were watching the sunset on Black Rock Beach, it was not nearly as nice as Old Lahaina and we were glad we did not book that one. Old Lahaina Lua is a must while your on Maui.Visited March 2023Written 21 March 2023
- Marci BSanta Clara, Utah9 contributionsLoved it but may want to make sure your kids are up for it before booking!Overall we had a great experience and thought the whole evening was very well done. If it were just my husband and I, the evening would have been perfect. So with that being said, I do want to note that if you have children you may want to reconsider because of a few things. We had our 4 children (ages 11, 9,7, and 5). First the evening is long. Dinner didnt finish until about 7:45 so my 5 and 7 year old fell asleep before the end of the show, which lasted to close til 9 pm. It was not entertaining enough to keep the engaged. Also if your kids are even a little picky when eating, they will not have much to eat. I liked the traditional hawaiian food but kids dont seems to appreciate that as much, :) Even my kids that aren't as picky, could in no way come close to finishing the food. The give you so much. The kids portions were the same as the adults. They could do childrens sizes and not waste so much food. You pay a lot of money even for children so def. take that into consideration when deciding whether to bring them along.Visited March 2023Written 23 March 2023
- Deb921Cumming, Georgia51 contributionsBest Luau in MauiIf I could have given this Luau a higher score, I would have. From the check in process, to the food, to the history provided during the show, this was an amazing evening. The show was wonderful, done in little increments during the meal. When we almost done with dinner, the full show started, which I think was best. The food was served to you, not a buffet style like some other Luaus. The wait staff was fantastic, keep drinks refilled and plates cleared. Definitely put this on your list when visiting Maui!Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2023
- Stephanie9 contributionsGreat experienceWe really enjoyed this luau. The hotel we were staying at offered one as well but after reading reviews we opted to travel to the old Lahaina luau and are so glad we did! It was well worth it. The people running this luau have it down to a science. Everything went smoothly including checkin in, being seated, the food, the service, etc. I really enjoyed all the food especially the traditional hawaiin courses. I also enjoyed the show at the end. Before the main show they took time to explain certain elements of hawaiin food and culture, which I really enjoyed.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2023
- Stephanie H3 contributionsAWESOME AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDThis was an amazing experience. We were served a 5 course meal (gluten free if you request in advance) that was phenomenal. There was a lot of food and different food choices, so everyone found something they loved. The dancers put on a great show and we learned a lot about the Hawaiian history and culture. I definitely recommend to anyone in the area.Visited March 2023Written 30 March 2023
- RVtherenowLake Geneva, Wisconsin102 contributionsWonderful experienceWe really loved all aspects of this beautiful evening Luau. The atmosphere is luxurious and rich in culture. We were welcomed to what felt like a Hawaiian Island long ago. Our server, Kona, was absolutely lovely. She made us feel like visiting royalty. The food and drink were plenty. We loved the hummus, steak and pork the most, but welcomed the taste of traditional luau foods. The show was educational and entertaining. It was a beautiful setting and we are so glad we went!Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 March 2023
- J SBellingham, Washington36 contributionsEnjoyable for everyoneThis was a wonderful experience for our family. Our server, Jackie, was phenomenal. She was attentive, knowledgeable about the food, and kind. She offered to bring fun kid drinks to my children. They had a blast experiencing those. Our family each liked sampling different foods from Hawaii. The show was interesting and beautiful. It was fun for the grandparents down to grandkids.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 April 2023
- wsckkyCalifornia196 contributionsGreat experience in every respect. Mahalo Old Lahaina! We had a great time at the Old Lahaina Luau. Beautiful setting, attentive service, delicious food (more than enough to eat, great sampling of traditional and local flavors, open bar), and a wonderfully entertaining show. So glad we chose this luau. Sitting on the floor during dinner and the show was definitely doable. Glad to have that front row seat, especially for taking photos/videos of the show. They have their own parking lot and an overflow lot across the street in the shopping area. The tables were placed in a semi-circle around the stage so everyone can see the performances nicely. The ocean front setting at sunset time was beautiful. It sure adds to the overall ambiance. Thinking that it must have been so tough for their business during early Covid times when tourists were nil. Happy to be able to support them now. The performers work so hard to put on this wonderful show. Servers were attentive and friendly. We missed seeing the fire dance but it's really okay given the entire experience was top notch. Unexpected bonus; delicious banana bread treat at the end to take home. Mahalo Old Lahaina!Visited April 2023Written 27 April 2023

This was one of the must do's on my list for my Maui trip. It didn't disappoint. The food and drinks were amazing. Our servers were awesome. The history of the Dance was great and learned a lot. This should be something everyone should experience. I do know it seems expensive but with all things included it is amazing. So glad to have had this experience.

They are back open!!! After 7 months you can feel the excitement and happiness that the employees have to be back at work. Their property was not burned at all by a miracle - burned out on either side. So location is beautiful. More food than you could ever eat - so fun to try the variety of Hawaiian dishes, Entertainment was great. So happy we chose to attend their second night open. Jackie - our server - was wonderful and so full of aloha. Only down side could be the price but it was worth it. Support all the employees & Lahaina --- attend!!!

God help you if you ever need your money back. We made a reservation for four in September and due to the fires, reservations were obviously cancelled. It has been OVER a month and I still do not have a refund. I opened a dispute with my credit card company that they have STILL not responded to. I'd be shocked if anyone got a refund. It was just under $1,000 for a reservation for 4 and these people just keep the money. They sent multiple emails saying they were refunding all reservations through December 15. FALSE.

This was a highlight of our trip to Maui. We have younger kids, and they had an amazing time. We were looking for a lū'au with traditional food and dance, and the Old Lāhainā Lū'au delivered! The food is incredible, and our kids loved learning about and seeing the preparation of the pua'a kālua/imu roasted pork. Drinks were fantastic, and our server was awesome about making a big deal of the fancy virgin Lava Flows and Mai Tais for our kids. There was a local artisan on site with hand-carved items for sale, and a traditional game for the younger guests to play leading up to the dinner and show. We were blown away by the music and dances throughout the evening. I’m so glad that we went early during our visit to the island - truly memorable experience.
Tip - Get there on the early side for best parking - there’s a lovely waiting area with some history and small exhibits before guests are allowed in to the main seating area.

Given this was my first visit to Hawaii, definitely wanted a Luau experience. Amazing view and the the service was tight. Food was much better than expected and the show was entertaining enough.
It’s not cheap, but that’s to be expected. But once you’ve done it, don’t really see where a return visit is needed.

Well...we felt like since we were in Hawaii we needed to do a luau. So, I'm glad we did, but overall the experience wasn't as great as I thought it would be (especially for the price) and we definitely wouldn't do it again. The setting was lovely, all outdoors right on the ocean. The show was great. The service was good, our waiter was attentive. We were all underwhelmed with the food and I had an upset tummy overnight after eating here. After 10 nights on Maui, we all agreed this was our least favorite meal, by far. If you're looking for something to splurge on, because this is pricey, I would recommend you find something else and take a pass on this.

A truly amazing culture experience. The food was excellent and they keep you entertained from the moment you show up to the moment you leave. This was one of our favorites in Maui and would absolutely go again!

Totally safe for people with celiac. My teen is more sensitive to gluten than most people with celiac and he felt fine. When I called the venue, they spoke to me extensively to reassure me about their procedures but never made any false claims. The server was very conscious and courteous of his needs. His food was practically the same as every one else's with the omission of rolls, cake (but still got dessert), one of the sauces on the meat, and not being able to eat the soy marinated yellow fin tuna (which was just a side dish). They even provided a gluten free menu (which is unnecessary because it's practically the same as the regular menu, but it nice because it made him feel included and reassured and showed him the abundance and variety of food he would have to eat).
A wonderful experience all around. The location is beautiful, the show incredible and educational, the food out of this world, and the service top-notch. Worth every penny we spent! It was such a delightful way to begin our Hawaiian vacation. My teens and I thoroughly enjoyed trying the huge variety of delicious dishes we were served. My picky eater tried every single dish. My teen with celiac was taken care of and was able to eat all but two or three of the items on the menu, and he was served a variation of those items that were gluten-free. The servers treated us like honored guests and were prompt and friendly from the minute we entered to the end of the evening. Even the bathrooms were beautiful with three arrangements of fresh flowers on the sinks. I can't fathom why people have left one star reviews. As for the vegetarians who left bad reviews, it's a luau -- pork, fish, Hawaiian food. We had a woman behind us who was a vegetarian, and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy her meal. It also seems a lot of bad reviews complained about the drinks. You don't go to a luau to get drunk. We had the non-alcoholic beverages, and they were delicious and they kept them coming. My son drank 4! The people below us had the drinks with alcohol and seemed to really enjoy their drinks. I think one of them had every drink on the menu! I have seen photos of other luaus on Maui, and this one seems like the absolute best.

Arriving by cruise ship, what is the best/ easiest way to get here? How far of a drive from port? What time should you arrive? We need to be back to port around 10pm, when does the luau end and can we safely make it back in time?
Thanks

Can anyone provide the actual schedule? In that 3 hour timeframe, what is the order of events? Approximately how far into the luau do they start serving food? Thanks!

Drinks served immediately. Food starts soon after. Mostly done eating & then show begins. Can still be drinking and eating while show is going on.

Yes. All you can eat and drink.
With the 5 course meal that they are currently offering, is there a separate menu for children?

I don’t think so. You should probably call and ask.
Is there transportation from the cruise port. ? If not what is the best way to get there and back without transportation ?

The Luau does not provide transportation so you’ll need a taxi or Uber.
What is the refund/cancellation policy? I can't find it on the website....I booked eight seats for June and need to cancel. I submitted an online contact request but two weeks ago and no one has responded.

Hi, Tabatha. The website has the following policy:
Cancellations: Except for groups of 15 or more, cancellations are accepted until 10:00 am on the
day of scheduled Lu’au. Cancellations after 10:00 am or “no-shows”, are
considered non-refundable and full charges apply.
Hope that helps!

How early do you recommend arriving in order to see the property?
Laura Lyn D
Franklin, TN18 contributions
I'd arrive at least 30 min early. The event does include meandering time prior to the meal and show. Mai Tais are passed out. There are opportunities to try some cultural dancing. Some local vendors come and offer their crafts for sale. I believe I recall a photographer being there as well. You'll also have plenty of time to view the ocean and the sun as it starts to set. Loved this whole event!

Check the website......there was no discount for a family of 6, but the whole experience was great and enjoyed by all of us. It is pricy, but we really had fun. It is best to order your tickets online well in advance as I hear they sell out quickly.

Since the description states Chinese as primarily involved- considering the epidemic, are there any worries a traveler should have? Are the performers/ hosts now residents and/ or have they have travels that may allow for the coronavirus to spread?

As for as I Know the performer and staff are all locals. But with this ever growing spread of the virus you never know.

How is it for someone that needs gluten free options
Alessandro C

When you book it, you can ask gluten free food. They can help you. There were people around us that ate gluten free food.
There are any kinds of food cooked in Hawaiian way at the buffet table. Also, there was food gluten free.
I hope I helped you.
