This is a hidden gem on the road to Hana. It is difficult to see from the road, so you better mark the location on your gps prior to taking the road to Hana

Definitely glad we stopped! The entrance fee includes a flashlight, and it was so cool to tour the lava tube. The informational signs as you walk through were so helpful.

For $15 you get a flashlight and access to lava tubes. It was DARK- absolutely no light in there other than your flashlight.
It's a self guided tour, where you can read signs that explain what you are seeing and with facts about the tubes.
We stopped here on our journey to Hana. I'm not sure I would spend the time to stop here again, but my family did enjoy it!

The Hana Lava Tubes was absolutely the best stop on the Road to Hana. This is a beautifully preserved natural attraction. No frills and as nature made it is what this is about. My family and I felt it was the highlight of the whole Hana drive. I sat and talked with the owner for awhile as my family did the "maze". He is a very interesting man who has created something very special. I have visited several caverns and caves across the United States and I have to say that this is second to nothing. It was refreshing to find something that lacked all the touristy crap. I feel it is a must see stop.

I am uncertain if taking the road to Hana was my best idea ever; however, we did enjoy it overall. But the Hana Lava Tubes are wonderful. You can actually walk inside the lava tubes. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun at the same time.

This was a nice diversion near the end of our road trip to Hana. Different to the other sites as it is a cave, so it was nice to escape the sun for 30 mins in the depths of the cave. Interesting to learn about how it was formed thousands of years ago. The lava has cooled in such a way that it looks like melted chocolate! $15 each for entry with a flashlight, and cash only.

We have always wanted to see a lava tube and this experience really set the bar high. We loved the fact that we were given the freedom to explore the tubes at our own pace. The interpretive signs were very helpful. The only suggestion would be to update some of the information signs with illustrations to better illustrate some of the features we saw. Also a sign that categorizes the various types of lava would be great to have right at the beginning.

This is a nice place for a walk through the lava tube. After driving for a long time the break was welcome. They give you a flashlight as you enter so you can make your way to the end of the trail. Unfortunately, the trail does not go all the way to the ocean, which would have been spectacular.

My wife and I visited the Hana Lava Tubes during a visit to the Hawaiian Islands.
The entry fee is $15 pp. After a short introduction by John, we were issued with torches and made our way down into the tube. Torches are essential.
There were numerous information plaques en route explaining what we were seeing.
We found it interesting and informative.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Hana area.

The tube is spacious and has no narrow areas, so it should not be a problem... However, most of the tube is dark and can seem smaller than it is...
