Well run attraction and really an educational lesson on early American aristocracy in Virginia. Cost is very reasonable to get in ($15/person) and includes a self guided tour you can listen to on your phone of the house and grounds.

The grounds have formal gardens and you can drive out to a private beach and a grist mill on the Potomac River.

Beautiful Georgian architecture for the main house and the house dates from the 1730’s. Robert E Lee was born here but moved away to Arlington when he was three due to his father falling into debt.

Would have enjoyed more background on the Lee family history but did learn a lot about how a 1709’s plantation worked.

Takes about 2-3 hours to see everything. About an hour drive from Fredericksburg.

Well, the staff is very helpful and informative, also they have a QR code that you can scan with your phone and it gives you the tours while you are going through the grounds and the estate, the gardens are very beautiful and overall it’s a very relaxing place. We highly recommend it and hope you get to take the tour.

The home and grounds are worth seeing however there is no tours other than virtual which was disappointing. So if you have question there is no one to ask although there are people/employees in the house. Also there is no sign that states "enter here" for the house..
Gift shop has a large selection and reasonable prices..

Amazing house and property. Be sure to visit the cliffs and look for sharks teeth on the beach. The largest home from before the Revolutionary War.

We visited Stratford Hall and took advantage of their audio guided tour. For most of the tour, we could take our time visiting each room since other visitors were in a different area of the Hall. Very interesting information about the Lee family. A great restoration of the Lee Family plantation and well cared for property. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. The Gift Shop was also quite nice.

Very well done restoration of an early American plantation and an educational tour.

Given the age of the home, it is in excellent shape and the grounds are very well kept.

We used the self guided tour and found it quite informative and allowed us to proceed at our own pace. As a warning we used the Wi-Fi version of the guide and my phone battery was running low so come with a full battery or use one of their listening device.

We toured the George Washington birthplace the same day and I feel Stratford hall is a much better representation of the period.

Note that while Robert E Lee may have been born on the property, his life and work are not the focus of the presentations- more of a footnote. In fact, other than the first few years of his life he really didn’t spend much time at Stratford Hall.

Very interesting house with an excellent staff to answer questions. The audio guide has lots of options and will take far more than an hour if you incorporate those options.

The Stratford House and grounds is a must see. They aren't providing guided tours at this time. We down loaded an app that allowed us to take a self guided tour. The app was done very well and we loved it because it was easy to follow. They also provide a self guided audio tour for you to use if you choose. The grounds are beautiful and the information provided was very interesting. There are also people in the buildings if you have questions. It was a great time of the year to visit. We were the only ones there at the time.
