Tour Guide: Trying to put a face to a poem I wrote...would like to know if there were ever an elderly tour guide(lady) who used the word "Yonder"

We visited Stratford Hall and took advantage of their audio guided tour. For most of the tour, we could take our time visiting each room since other visitors were in a different area of the Hall. Very interesting information about the Lee family. A great restoration of the Lee Family plantation and well cared for property. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. The Gift Shop was also quite nice.

Very well done restoration of an early American plantation and an educational tour.

Given the age of the home, it is in excellent shape and the grounds are very well kept.

We used the self guided tour and found it quite informative and allowed us to proceed at our own pace. As a warning we used the Wi-Fi version of the guide and my phone battery was running low so come with a full battery or use one of their listening device.

We toured the George Washington birthplace the same day and I feel Stratford hall is a much better representation of the period.

Note that while Robert E Lee may have been born on the property, his life and work are not the focus of the presentations- more of a footnote. In fact, other than the first few years of his life he really didn’t spend much time at Stratford Hall.

Very interesting house with an excellent staff to answer questions. The audio guide has lots of options and will take far more than an hour if you incorporate those options.

The Stratford House and grounds is a must see. They aren't providing guided tours at this time. We down loaded an app that allowed us to take a self guided tour. The app was done very well and we loved it because it was easy to follow. They also provide a self guided audio tour for you to use if you choose. The grounds are beautiful and the information provided was very interesting. There are also people in the buildings if you have questions. It was a great time of the year to visit. We were the only ones there at the time.

This is an wonderful excursion despite its location off the main roads. There is so much American history in this house, and it is presented quite well. Sensitive subject matter is presented honestly and openly. The grounds are beautiful.

We have a person in a large power wheelchair and although the paths and parking lot surface could have been better, it worked reasonably well. The guides were exceptionally kind in showing the person in the wheelchair images on an iPad and explaining individual rooms or items.

We were unable to attempt navigating the grounds due to time constraints.

My favorite type of tour is the self-made one. The audio stories were excellent and you can go at your own pace and listen to only those parts you are interested in!

beware! Do not go on trails unless covered in Deet. Three days later, still covered in bites that prevent sleep, cortisone, benadryl, lindane spray, unbearable itching, oozing sores. Chiggers, seed ticks, and who knows what else- we dont! Only hope wont get blood disease. Ankles and feet actually swollen tight! Never experienced anything this severe. Never! No joke.
