This is an absolute must see in Sicily - the most stunning 4th C Roman villa with mosaic floors which take your breath away. One 60 m floor with tigers, elephants and camels - like the film set of Gladiator! It is hard to believe...More

This villa is well worth a visit as the mosaic flooring is spectacular and the best in the world. It's not too far by car from Siracusa or Agrigento. There was a thunderstorm when we visited in August but most of the site is covered...More

Our visit to the Villa Romana last week was well worth the journey from Syracusa. The number of mosaics combined with their quality is truly impressive. We were fortunate too in having an enthusiastic and well informed guide to interpret the site for us. The...More

A must-do as it offers the most impressive and best preserved mosaics in a roman villa. Very well presented and explained as you walk through the villa. You feel being pulled back into the Roman Empire times.

History and art come alive in this ancient Roman relic. The pictures tell a story and imagination takes over from there. Avoid the crush of tourist busses by 9am arrival or late afternoon.

The villa is in the middle of Sicily. Most visitors must arrive by car. Surely I wasn't the only one desperate for the loo when we arrived? The facilities are a five minute walk, through a "market" then up a steep-ish slope. Not a good...More

Definitely a must see on your Sicilian journey, especially if you are a Roman and Greek history buff. The mosaics are so well preserved - the long hunting hall has a beautifully preserved mosaic telling a rich story. They have done a nice job with...More

We had a car and drove. I only saw tour coaches in the car park. Nothing that looked like a local bus. Sorry
