My checked suitcase was crashed at the airport. I claimed the damage, received all the necessary documentation and was promised replacement in a week. However, when I was leaving Greece the airport service took advantage of the situation and refused to reimburse or replace my damaged luggage. They lied that I haven't submitted the damaged suitcase dimensions. When I began to insist they simply ignored my messages. This was shameful behavior.

Many wonderful things to look at the exhibition. My favourites are the Bronze Age ones that were uncovered when the airport was being constructed. Unfortunately I do not have pictures of them.

At the departure hall of Athens Airport, this small museum is a very good chance for the transit passengers in order to know something about Greek history around airport site. Well illuminated with plenty of informative plakets.Recommended to have a look at while you are still at the airport.

We had a three hour stay between transfers and were pleasantly surprised how clean the airport was with plenty of shopping and restaurants and even a museum we made our way eventually to the business lounge in the A terminal, where we enjoyed some good local food and drinks, plenty of comfortable seating and up to date information on flight departures

We had a noon flight out of Athens and the airport was quite busy with long lines. Our family group split up while we waited for our flight, some of us visiting the shops. We selected a bunch of items like baklava, loukoumes and souvenirs. When we went to pay for it the rude sales clerk demanded to see our boarding pass which we did not have on us, having left it with other family members at the gate. We had to run all the way back to get it. Why this was necessary I don't know since we were in an area where everybody went through security with boarding passes. An unnecessary irritation.

It's a nice 10-minute exhibition. If you are ever at this airport, go see it--it is worth it. Notice that I am just referring to the exhibition, the airport itself is just average.

Very limited seating arrangement mostly occupied by sleeping travellers taking three spaces and staff seemed to do nothing about it. Very expensive eating places with a cup of coffee averaging 5€.
Considering it was a purpose built airport the searing facilities were poorly designed and thought. So if you are travelling and specially having children try to book one of the lounges were at least you can sit rather than walking aimlessly waiting for your flight.

I took advantage of my time between flights to have a look at this small exhibition, located in the public area of Athens airport (i.e. before you actually pass through security). It's free and has a few interesting things to look at, so you may as well take the opportunity to see it if you have time between flights.

One extra reason for complementing the El. Venizelos Athens Airport: Beyond the fact that it’s always sparkling clean 🧼, the upper floor in the departures area features an area of ancient culture exhibits, plus a brand NEW Burger King restaurant that tops all the burger 🍔 restaurants we’ve ever been!
Vast nicely decorated seating area, spotless clean 🧼, with helpful personnel all around, offer the ideal setup to enjoy the time before your flight ✈️.
This particular restaurant was certainly a surprise and sets an example on an international level👌
We thoroughly enjoyed the classic broiled 🔥burgers and will call again on the next occasion!

Amazing clean Airport. Checking in to come home was extremely hassle free and the exhibits upstairs were great, with a big screen showing the Parthenon and various artefacts in glass cabinets. The McDonalds next door to it was lovely with great views of the runway and planes coming and going, with really friendly staff. Highly recommended.
