I took my Granddaughter here and she LOVED it. The best thing to me personally, was the Scarlett O'Hara hat on display. Yes, the infamous Green Velvet Hat. Take the time and enjoy

The original dresses on display can provide almost fairy-tale like discussions with little girls are such fun to share with a special grandmother. Anytime, families can interact in such a way as you, makes for wonderful memories and strong family bonds. Thank you for coming.

Incredible collection of artifacts from both sides of the war. Most of the items on display come from intimate collections identified by their original owners. Absolutely Stunning!More

Our museum is a bit different than the current trend in that we do not tell people what to think. We try to put a personal face to each artifact. It blurs the line with who is a good guy and who is a bad...More

It is always special when we hear multi-genrations visited together and all enjoyed the visit. On our "north" side, we have Grant's coat, sword and cigar as well as items from Generals Sickles, Butler, McClellan, Banks and it will take equally as long to see...More

We always appreciate when parents and children are able to share in a memory that checks off all the boxes: education, quality time, enjoyment. Thank you for visiting.

This is a great museum, especially if you want to major on the part Texans played in the war. Don't let the recent anti-civil war history focus keep you from learning. There are some really interesting displays here. My grandchildren enjoyed the game of looking...More

Thank you for your kind words. Studies show that museums are the most trusted institution in America. We take that seriously. We also take seriously the generational experience with grandparents and grandchildren. This is how children become good citizens. We look forward to your return...More

I am so sorry as I did not see the question until now. Allow 2 hours if you have a general interest in the war. If you are really interested in the period allow 4.
