pleasant place to soak out the aches and pains
Apr 2021
A quiet place to soak in some warm, mild geothermal water in a natural setting at the edge of the forest. The outdoor setting allows for looking up at the trees as you stretch out in the soaking pools. A nature trail is available for a hike. Popular with families, who bring food and set up elaborate barbecue picnics. Food at the vendor is tasty and economical. Bring you own towels and bathing suits. Banos are a bit primitive, but they work. A massage therapist is available on site, but we did not avail of her services, but the massage area looked nice.
Cost was 45 pesos for adult entry, then stay as long as you like. You will be assigned a pool to use, but you can pick from any not in use.

Getting there is a scenic drive through the mountains. Don't trust Google Maps entirely. I can't advise on getting there from the south, but from the north, from Highway 200, turn inland toward the town of Alta Vista (about 1 km north of the village of La Puerta de la Lima, not the turnoff to the petroglyphs), then take the gravel road that forks to the right/south at the village before you get to Alta Vista, about 5 km from highway 200. Stay on the gravel road for several km (Google says 13 km, but we clocked over 20), about 45 minutes. This is a winding mountain road, passable with any vehicle - we had a Toyota Yaris - but bumpy. Just go slow and enjoy the view. The final turnoff is well marked.

Book with Augustin Guayabitos Best Tours
Dec 2020
A relaxing day with our family. The ride there is beautiful. We booked a guide- Agustin Salas 322 122 6122. Be sure to download Whatsapp before you go to Mexico so you can communicate with tour operators Augustin ended up being much more than a guide when our VRBO AND our rental car fell through and we had to scramble to find last minute accommodations during the Christmas holiday when everything was booked. Words are inadequate to express our gratitude for the time and concern he demonstrated for our family's well-being as he drove us from lodging to lodging like a modern day Christmas story until he found us room at an Inn in Guayabitos. Augstin offers a number of tours with personalized affordable service. Our trip would have been an absolute disaster without him. He is kind, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Book with Agustin for all your tour needs you won't be disappointed and we are forever in his debt.

Awesome soak

Very special place but a bad road to get there. It is okay coming from the PV side but gets bad when heading out towards Las Varas. We have a big old 4x4 - never needed to put it in 4 wheel drive but a few of the hills were bad.

Thermal Baths
May 2019 • Friends
Bit of a bumpy ride up into the mountains but beautiful scenery and the baths offer private tubs which is nice, We used Augustin ( as recommended on Trip Advisor ) and he was excellent. Highly recommend him. His english is great and he provided the van and water for the four of us. His cell number is 322-122-6122 and after contacting him we used Whats App to update our plans.
There is also a 45 minute hike but you need better shoes which we did not have with us.

Tour with Agustin - Guayabitos Best Tours
Mar 2019 • Family
Thanks to Colette who posted above, we followed her advice and had the desk staff at the Hotel Allegra call Agustin on the number she provided (322-122-6122). He answered right away and we spoke to him and we met him down the road at our hotel and made arrangements to go out the next day. Agustin is a very pleasant person who’s English is excellent due to living over 15 years in the US. He knows the area around the thermal baths as you grew up there and showed us what remains of his grandfather’s house that we passed on the bumpy road. The thermal baths are very nice but warning the site is very much set up for Mexican tourism as much of Guayabitos is. Large families some camp in tents over night. We had our own tub with freshly supplied hot water. Really interesting how this is all set up. It is under shade and it was an overcast day so the warm tubs were very attractive. 10 year old children enjoyed themselves as well. There are some trails where you can take a 45 min hike but we did not plan for this. Nice drive if you want to take on the countryside, vegetation, etc.

Left feeling very relaxed with nice loose muscles.

If this is not really what interests you, I still recommend you talk to Agustin as he can recommend other activities and take you out to do that.

Agustin is very honest, dependable and reliable. Fair prices. He arranged a taxi for us to the airport as well.

Absolutely wonderful and spotless
Jan 2019 • Friends
Yes a bit bumpy, not as bad as some report and there were some small cars up there, probably took them a bit longer to get there. We made the mistake of not looking at the reviews so had no b'bque foods. There is a small "kiosk" on site and she can whip up some dishes.....sure smelled good.
There is no smell and the water flows out to the river, not the next pool. You are assigned a pool and the attendant shows you how to make it warmer. Washrooms etc spotless too.
A great day, loved every minute

Difficult to find but worth the research.

We drove 1 hr 30 minutes Bucerias to the hot springs. We had a terrible time because the google gps wanted us to make a hairpin turn at Las Canada driving from the south.
Even with signage there were cars stopping trying to figure it out.
Lovely clean place. Cheap beer, good Camerones. You cannot hop from one hot pool to another. You must choose one and stay there. Ours was hot on top but cold at the bottom so we were disappointed. There are many more pools hidden in the trees.
See attached map.entry is 40 pesos

Great spot

We loved this off the beaten track hot springs. Although our pool was only warm and not hot, the staff was great and everyone got their own little pool. Signage is pretty good from the ixtapa side but most people we met came from la penita side in Nayarit. Bring your own food as they only have chips and pop.

Clean hot springs
Mar 2018 • Friends
Get there about 10 am. You need at least 8-10 inch clearance under your car. We hit a rock and knocked a hole in the oil pan. I think there is a better road from Mescales. Take your friends, chairs, picnic lunch and towels.
