    Electric Atmosphere
Lights and action. Be aware of your surroundings, there is so much to see and do. You don't want to miss anything. The musical notes on the sidewalk are neat and you see so many great's names engraved on them. There are many outdoor/between the building places to stop for a drink and listen to some blues. The atmosphere is electric and very friendly. Folks on Beale St. are proud of its history.

    First time Memphis
It was good to see, initially concerned about our safety but that was not an issue. Lots of law enforcement and private security. They want to make it better, lots of renovation and new building going on. Hope it sticks Blue City Cafe best ribs ever.

    Giving the Blues credibility
Beale Street is a long street in Memphis, Tennessee. Beale Street is said to be the Home of the Blues. You can walk down Beale Street and be met by a wall of music. Some performers play for tips; many performers are well-known and are famous for their music. Performing on Beale Street gives an artist credibility. Beale Street is a great place to wander around and experience the Blues. Downtown Beale Street may not be the Birthplace of the Blues, but Beale Street is the Home of the Blue.

    A great street
This street is very different in the day time to the evening, however you hear music being played regardless of the time of day. It is the home of the blues after all There are so many bars to choose from and you don’t want to miss the music being played, and in between these are shops and galleries. When we were visiting there was a black and white photograph exhibition on Memphis throughout the years. During the weekend this road is closed off from traffic so totally pedestrianised It is very lively at night but we felt safe

Good For Some Live Blues & Jazz
If you want to take kids, go before the sun goes down. It's definitely a different place at night versus in the day. It's a lot dirtier at night. We went after sunset, so there was a $5 charge per person to enter. Can pay via cash or card. Once inside, you can buy a $10 all-access pass to be able to go inside as many of the bars/restaurants as you want, as most of them have a cover to go inside. Half of the spots on Beale have a walk-up window where you can buy drinks to walk around with & avoid the cover charge. There are plenty of places with live Jazz or Blues music, just take your pick. Great tunes & good to take in one of the most historical streets in America. You can park in a nearby deck or one of the nearby streets. Uber is also an option, and it'll drop you off about a block away from Beale Street.

    Interesting
We walked this street on a Saturday afternoon and it was lively but not crazy. The area is about 3-4 blocks long and has interesting bars, restaurants, and shops. Lots of history here. Fun place to visit and people watch. You can get here via the Main Street Trolly which only cost a couple of dollars for the day.

    Reminiscent of New Orleans
If you like New Oreleans, you’ll like Beal Street. If you don’t like New Orleans, you won’t. I don’t like New Orleans, so I won’t be returning to either spot. Not good for young families. Eye opening for teens.

    Dirty, scary…but with great music!
This might be the dirtiest, scariest place I’ve been inside the US. That’s saying a lot since I’ve ridden the subway in Los Angeles. The musical talent here is amazing, however! Just know it doesn’t feel very safe. Go in a group and don’t get too drunk so you can watch your back. Worth a visit if you like Blues music. Try and see Chris Gales perform.

    Quiet during day
Visited Beale street during the day at lunch time on a Sunday with our tour . Very quiet thankfully we have experienced Beale street at night before . Some of our tour went again that evening and said it was still quiet . Maybe because it was a Sunday . I’m sure Saturdays are more lively . Worth a visit

Don't go until late afternoon/evening at the earliest
NOT Honkey Tonk Row: Having read several websites about Beale Street, we were under the impression it was very similar to Nashville's Honkey Tonk Row, with all the bars/venues opening in the mid-morning and going through the night. It is not. We arrived about 1pm on a Sunday, and it was dead. There were about 5 bars and/or restaurants open, and only half of those had live music. They were devoid of customers. It turns out the town doesn't even open until after 4 pm, and 7 pm is the 'real' time to get there. We estimate 30% of the buildings were vacant. We had a snack at one place, an adult beverage at another, then tried to kill time until our dinner reservations at 5:30 (we didn't want to leave and come back, as we had already paid for parking). The history of the buildings was fun and interesting. There are a TON of museums within walking distance, but we did not go into any (be sure to check days/hours). By the time we finished dinner, we were too tired to try again to see what had opened. It did look more active though.

It’s not the same and can feel why people feel unsafe. Had cars doing donuts outside our hotel for 45 minutes at 4:00 am in the morning. Cops never showed up and it was a nightmare for other drivers. I will not go back.

Do not bring your kids there and do not go after dark. It’s dirty and super sketchy. We felt unsafe the whole time . Also when we parked we noticed a young man running and skipping while pushing a wheelchair, about 30 minutes later we saw him in the wheelchair, posing has handicapped asking for money. That kind sums up what kind people are hanging out on Beale Street. The waitress at the restaurant war so rude we didn’t even order food, just a beer and left. Terrible place!

A great, fun time for all on Beale street. Had a great time visiting/touring/drinking. Very close to the Peabody Hotel. Worth a visit.

Possibly one of the most underwhelming experiences I've had. Ok it's a Thursday but where is everyone? I presume all the locals must be elsewhere and have taken the atmosphere with them.

First time visitor! It was raining and no one was out! But I must say I am from Chicago, and I can say this. I did not feel safe - even in the daytime! I thought it was dirty! They seem to be trying to revamp and build near the river but until then I'll take a pass! BUT the blue music was nice to hear!

Beale Street was disappointing to me. It's very dirty and crime-ridden and with all the police and metal detectors and warnings to be careful bc of all the shootings, I didn't necessarily feel like I was dying to go.

We decided to go during the day due to this and most things weren't even open and there was no live music.

The shops were sparse and filled mostly with junk items and the restaurants were all bar/pub food.

Temper your expectations. It's in a rough part of downtown and there isn't much to walk around nearby and see or eat aside from the dated and old Peabody hotel, a luxury property in need of some TLC and renovation.

Beale Street is a whole vibe. Closed to motor traffic you can wander down the street and find just about what ever you want. Food. Drinks. Music. Souvenirs. Interesting Characters. Old Timey Soda Shop. Definitely worth a stop.

This might be more interesting closer to a weekend. However it was only a block or 2 long and the shops were very touristy.

As always, even though I hate the tourist traps I am from the city and I don’t go on Bell Street that much but every time I do I have a blast it’s a whole vibe and it’s fun for the whole family (during certain hours)

You can't go to Memphis without going to Beale Street. It's about 200 yards long from Elvis's statue at the top by Main Street to the end. Loads of bars with bands playing blues and Rock 'n Roll' which must be experienced. Again, like so many places similar worldwide drinks are very expensive.
