Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

We loved doing the small Sun City Tour. Learning how it all went down with Elvis, and some others, was so much fun!!

Great hour long tour of a historic part of American music. The tour guide provided excellent insight into the key role this small studio played in bringing up some of the great talents in the 50s including Elvis.

First, there is parking in the back. There are also steps too. We arrived early but the early birds got there so they were able to accommodate everyone and run two tours. The tour takes 45 minutes and our took guide Jeff made it fun...More

The young lady who led us today was very knowledgeable, and vested! A must see! Parking is limited! There is parking along side the building, but VERY tight!

I found it hard to find a parking spot so we parked in a private lot next door. We were only there for the picture but if you plan to stay, look for free parking out back.

This is an interesting tour with, as others have posted, some goose bump inducing moments. Nonetheless, $14 is too much to pay for a 30 minute tour of two rooms with 40+ other people. The history and the stories are 4-star. Squeezing so many people...More

I'm thinking the reasoning behind no children under 5 could be for several reasons. Sun Studios is extremely small. When we went it was very hard to move around in there. We had to wait for our tour to begin for a few... More

As far as I know, making a recording wasn't an option on the tour. You would probably have to reserve the studio at a different time of the day because it is still used by artists to record.

The coffee shop is on the ground floor and the actual studio can be accessed thru a a door from the outside. The office and memorabilia are on an upper floor which probably is not wheelchair accessible.
