We have dogs at different levels of ability that will give you a true sense of the process we go through when training dogs from beginners all the way through to fully fledged working dogs.
We have traditional Shetland sheep for you to see, their fleeces being used for our world famous Fair Isle knitting.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our time with David and Isla. It was fascinating to watch the sheepdogs in action responding to David’s commands to control the movements of the sheep. We found this excursion to be most interesting and informative and recommend it highly.

This was one of our best tours. The time with the animals was great, we saw sheep and new lambs up close, so, so cute. The two ponies were very interesting on a standard Shetland and the other a miniature Shetland. Learned the standard Shetland are really bred for the climate and are very hearty in the climate. They can pull twice their weight. The herding dogs were the best, seeing how they naturally take to their work and how much the enjoy it. Its also amazing how the handler communicates to the dog on what he wants done. Also learned about peat and it importance to the environment.

What a great outdoor experience, seeing Shetland ponies, sheep and the dogs demonstrate their skills. We were up close on all the activities and able learn about the stages of training the sheep dogs. One of our best tours.

After two weeks in the UK the whole family agrees that this was the highlight of our trip. Spending more than 3 hours with us, David and Isla made us feel like family as they introduced us to the ponies, the dogs, and sheep. Then they took us on a tour of their farm where we were able to see Fethaland and hear the rich stories David was able to tell us about the challenging lives those fishermen - and women - had. David also told us about the Shetland Bus, the seals at the cliffs, and the free to roam rules they must abide by on the island. Would you believe they even assisted us with getting dinner reservations at one of their favorite restaurants nearby! Can't say enough good things about this experience. We'll remember it forever.

We went on this tour from our cruise ship and it was absolutely wonderful. We learned about the Shetland sheep and how they manage them. The highlight of the day was watching four different sheepdogs, each at a different training level, drive the sheep under David's control. We were able to pet the sheep, the Shetland Ponies and the sheepdogs and take lots of photos. Highly recommend this tour. It us amazing and you won't be disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with David and Isla! They do a great job sharing their method of training their dogs, and through it you can really see how much they care for their animals. It was so interesting to see it all in practice. I would absolutely recommend booking this experience, 12/10!

Beautiful scenery getting to the rural experience. Once arrived were met with two extremely knowledgeable people that knew so much about the sheep and sheep sheering. In addition to the sheep, the training of herding dogs was very interesting!

This was the most fascinating and wonderful experience. David and Isla were delightful, and watching David work with several dogs at different stages of training was spell-bounding. Not to mention the lovely Shetland ponies.
