Confusing Access & Customer Service Needs Work
Oct 2021 • Family
Glenarm Castle is a nice place, and they’ve carried out some good additions in recent years.

However, access with a car is confusing - it’s £6 to enter the Walled Garden (steep, for what it is), but no charge to park to access the Tea Room. The chap manning the hut on Sunday 3rd October made zero effort to assist, dismissively waiving an arm at the price list when queried.

When I made it to the Tea Room parking area (having paid no charge), it was open & busy but access was roped-off. Eventually, a member of staff arrived to let those waiting in, but with no signs or staff explaining access, it’s an awkward & easily avoidable situation.

A worthwhile place to visit, but better customer service would be welcome.

Ocean view pods
Sep 2021
Recently stayed in one of the pods at Glenarm. Have never been to the castle grounds and gardens before. The walled garden is amazing and still blooming in September. Tried an icecream for the milk parlour which was amazing - pistacho!. Pizza doc, coffee doc, shops, workshops, wild meadows etc
Pods were superb. View from them amazing. Everything in them you would need. We opted for the campfire experience and were left ample firewood, lighters, matches, mallows for toasting. Brougt our own disposable bbq. We were lucky to get a beautiful evening to enjoy all this. It was nice to stop somewhere that we have driven through so many times but never stopped at. Highly recommend.

Best and worst
Sep 2021 • Couples
The herbaceous borders are the best you will see anywhere. However, the staff at the tea room probably the worst. Very poor customer service. One lady was simply rude to us and the one serving us lacked basic product knowledge. Very inefficient and unwelcoming.

Well worth a visit
Aug 2021 • Couples
Beautiful gardens to visit. The borders were full of colour, and the whole place was very well kept and presented. The wild flower sections were particularly pretty, and great for pollinators. The retail outlets were good quality with an interesting array of goods. The ice cream was excellent!

Furtherance Pods
Jul 2021 • Family
Furtherspace Pods at Glenarm Castle.

The pod was great fun for the seven year old but for the parents with a two year old, not so much! This could be remedied by a knee high wooden fence around each pod area. Then the parents could have a relaxing stay too. As it is the fence in front of the pods is just a token. Three widely spaced wires won't stop a toddler from falling down the hill and the toddler of course can also just run off into the carpark behind the pod. Obviously parental supervision stops all that happening but a small (adult knee high ) wooden fence would make it a holiday for all. As it stands I would not recommend it to parents of toddlers. Go back when they are older! The pizza on site was very good (but need more vegetarian options). The jeep drive for kids was great too.

A nice spot to stay and visit the Causeway Coast.

We stayed in the Barbican also at Glenarm Castle 10 or more years earlier and that was wonderful. Recommend that wholeheartedly for couples without kids.

Glenarm is lovely, the flags however......not.

Mostly closed
Jul 2021
We stopped in the town to see the Castle, and walked into the grounds only to find that it was being set up for a major festival the following weekend, and most of the pathways and grounds were closed. We did manage to walk up to the cafe but did not feel like paying to view the walled gardens, which seemed quite expensive at £6 each.
In the end, we didnt even get to see the Castle at all, even from a distance!!

Nice gardens
Jun 2021 • Family
Nice gardens but we arrived to see the castle. Turns out you can’t, not even from outside so it was a disappointment to say the least. Coffee shop very busy so after waiting for 15 mins without any movement we just left. Mini landrover is experience for kids also has to be booked in and closest time they could offer to us was in 4 days..

Great peonies and roses
Jun 2021
Enjoyed a walk around these lovely gardens at the end of June. The roses and peonies were in full bloom and were just beautiful. We were disappointed that we couldn't see the castle at all even from the outside . Nice tea rooms but it was so busy we didn't queue. The entry to the gardens is via the coffee shop so don't stand in line with the coffee shop customers this is a little confusing and could be made clearer to visitors.

Whenever possible, we like to visit gardens and this is a beauty. A rich variety of plants of all kinds, laid out with an engineers precision and an artists eye. Lovely. Long views though intriguing hedges, neat clipping, grand shapes. The helical mound is smashing and affords long vistas of the surrounding countryside. great café and associated shops. very helpful people.

A Pleasant Short Walk Around the Gardens
Sep 2020 • Couples
We stopped to visit the walled gardens. You're not allowed into the castle itself as it's still lived in.

We visited in late September so the flowers were largely past but the gardens were still in lovely condition.

They have a nice tea shop in the grounds which serves a good selection of food. Unfortunately the service was quite slow.
