Dawlish Town Trail
4.5
About
This South West Coast Path walk starts and ends at Dawlish Railway Station and takes in both the development of Dawlish since the 1800s as well as the attractive Old Town. The route is generally flat and undemanding along pavements or tarmac footpaths. Where there are no pavements, any roads walked on are quiet and usually traffic free.

Relaxing little spot, with magnificent Black swans
Sep 2021
We wondered through and next to the wonderful park that sits in the middle of Dalwish, we didnt do the full trail but the gardens and river were lovely and peaceful even on a very hot sunny day with lots of people around.

Black Swans swam in the river and were in the small "zoo" situated on the banks of the river. A cafe is situated on the river with seating and the paths are well maintained and easy to walk.

Biased, I visited during Carnival
Aug 2021
There are a few points on interest to see, a wide varitey of birds, the waterwheel, the river, and park throughout the year, but when I visited the Carnival had transformed the area, with knitted bunting and fairground rides.

Beautiful
Aug 2021 • Family
There is a lovely park area at Dawlish not far from the seafront that houses some beautiful scenery, lovely benches to sit and relax and an array of birds to watch, especially with their babies. We didn't get opportunity to go further but I will definitely be visiting again

Peaceful Town Park and Gardens
Jul 2021 • Friends
Right in the centre of this quaint town is this lovely park, which is part of the trial, the shade of the trees and the trickle of the water is very calming. Very enjoyable couple of hours

Pleasant walk
Jun 2021
Just passing through and had to stop off for a look. A peaceful stroll around Dawlish Water and the parkland. See the ducks and of course the black swans.
Popped down to the station to see the extensive work still going on to build up the sea defences.
Some fascinating rock formations can also be seen from here where the railway cuts through the cliffs. Check out the Legend of Parson and Clerk to learn more.
At the time of our visit several cruise ships were parked up offshore including Queen Mary 2.
Glad we stopped off.

Lovely clean area
May 2021 • Couples
Stopped here after visiting Dawlish Warren and so glad we did. Stream running through with duck and the famous black swan, plenty of shops and cafes to visit. You can carry on walking along the stream past the car park which we would have liked to have done but didn't have the time. Construction work going on along seafront so couldn't walk along the beach, would definitely visit again.

Black Swans
Oct 2020
Had a lovely walk along the steam, loved the black swans. Lots of maintenance on the sea front so it difficult to walk where we wanted. Variety of shops.

October Half Term
Oct 2020 • Family
We were a family of 6
2 teenagers , mum & dad and 2 grandmas This is a lovely little place for the family to have a gentle wander around for a couple of hours.

Lots of little shops , small eateries and tea shops for the cream tea !!!

Gays creamery is a must see and the old water mill tea house

You can’t miss the black swans in the village , they are used to being fed !!

Beach lies at the bottom of the trail
Great for walking the dog (out of season)
