Just a tourist town now. easy walking but stores cater to tourists. If in South Dakota for the scenery and beauty, skip Deadwood. If you like to gamble then this is your stop

Dead wood is a delightful place to visit. Plan on staying a while, lots to do and see thru out the area. Visit the museum, ride the town trolley, explore all the shops. Go to the town of Lead. Surprise around every corner.

We took our kids along for a walk around Historic Old Town Deadwood on a Thursday. We ended up spending the entire day because there was a lot to see. We especially enjoyed Deadwood Alive. There's so much history here!

Not what we expected. It was mostly bars and casinos. You could see some of the old buildings but most buildings were places trying to get tourists to spend their money on anything. It was just too commercialized to be an Historic street.

This is a unique old town that is really commercialized. Street is just lined with bars, restaurants and shops. Was fun just to walk around a bit but is nothing like Tombstone in AZ.

Historic Old Town really should be Historic Old Street. The buildings are cool to look at from the outside but they are mainly tourist trinket stores and saloons.

If you are into casinos and drinking then you would love this place. We are not! It taken take long to see what we wanted to see. Would not visit here again.

In June when we visited across the street from The #1 Saloon there was a courtyard with stage w/musicians performing on Saturday. I'm guessing this was a regular happening. Band sounded good too! We were all invested in... More
