Not a good course and facility.
While I understand you can't stop nature, the course was brutally waterlogged! Virtually every bunker had standing water in it. The fairways were saturated. to top it off, they were MOWING the course with all that water. What a way to make an already poor course, even poorer. Where I live, the course would have been closed because of all the water. Must be they have other issues.

I wasn’t aware that you are not permitted to putt on the green next to the driving range. A staff member left his teaching lesson to tell me I couldn’t be there putting. He told me that I could only putt up next to the clubhouse which threw me because there are no holes in the green in order to practice. Who putts to aim at a stick stuck in the ground? He informed that no holes exist due to insufficient budget and lack of maintenance. I’ll never return to this course again.

Played here many years ago and decided to try playing there again, can't really comment on the greens since they had just been aerated and sanded which they had signs up notifying you of the aeration. What they failed to advise of is that a hammer would be required to place a tee in the ground. This is no joke I actually had to get down on my knee in order to get my tee in the ground on a couple of tees. The tee boxes if that's what you want to call them were in horrible condition and hard as a rock. I only played the back nine and on most I had a hard time getting a tee in the ground. The fairways were also hard which made for a lot of bad hops. If you hit a fade or draw then you ball bounced right or left off the fairways. The were a few sand traps that had recently be refilled with sand or should I say over filled with sand. Never I have I ever seen a course with such deep sand. They really need to do something about the fairways as they are way to hard. Won't be back unless conditions improve as there's many better options in Myrtle Beach at their price point

Played 18 holes here recently...and the course was so dry they probably are in danger of losing it. They have sod patched some of the greens and some greens basically had no grass. Fairways were patchy and crunchy and hard as a rock. So maybe some intense rain will bring this place back to life. It is too bad because it is a great layout - lots of variety - some easy holes and some more challenging. The staff is friendly and helpful and we were treated very well...but they need to have a couple weeks of rain just to have a semi playable course.

This course was challenging yet fun to play. The water was tricky enough to loose more than a few balls so pack extra!
The greens were slower than expected and the fringe around them cut unusually long so putting through that was next to impossible. Chipping was the only option.
The staff was very courteous and friendly and the price per round was much less than many area courses.

Course reservation and check in are very efficient. Snack bar is mediocre. Course has lots of water. Lots. Pace of play was excruciatingly slow. Course maintenance was OK. There are so many courses to play in Myrtle Beach, I doubt if I would play here again. Better values elsewhere.

The course was in very good shape in everything except the senior (green) tee boxes....they needed a lot of work. Interesting layout and a scenic course of medium difficulty. I'd play it again.

If you like hairy greens and pay an extra four golf cart because of the virus go to whispering Pines.

We are a group of snow birds, averaging 12 to 20 golfers twice a week here in beautiful Myrtle Beach.
We all have the “passport card” which allows for discounts if you book 48 hours in advance....at certain courses.
Every course here has been overwhelmingly welcoming and supportive of us obtaining group teeoffs.....except GENE at Whispering Pines.
We booked 3 days in advance one time and advised we had the passport card. The young person on the desk said no problem, call back tomorrow and we will adjust the rate for you because your such a large group. When we called back, manager GENE answered and promptly started yelling at us saying they don’t do that kind of thing....it’s against the “passport” rules...like it was our fault. We apologized...cancelled...and then rebooked with our passport rate.
Recently we called again, advised we had 20 players but that we’d heard there was a group rate available. The young lady on the phone blocked tee times for us and said to call back tomorrow and speak directly to GENE to get the group rate.
When we called back GENE answered and said he was busy checking people in, call back in half an hour and he hung up. We called back in half an hour and he quickly advised he doesn’t give group rates. We said ok then, sorry...your staff said you did. We will keep our tee time she set aside and just go with the passport rate then. He “lost it” and said oh no you won’t...you booked it more than 48 hours ago...we said no we didn’t...his staff put it on hold pending us speaking to him...he refused to allow the passport card rate. NEVER will we EVER go back to Whispering Pines!!!!
Thankfully every other course we have been to this past season has been welcoming and supportive of our group.....and we tried more than 15 different ones this year.

This golf course was in great shape. I have not played there in several years and was impressed with the conditions. Fairways and greens were very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. One of the nice old courses in Myrtle Beach.
