- Robert SSeneca, South Carolina3 contributionsNice Walk, but be Aware of Speeding BicyclistsI had heard so much about the Swamp Rabbit Trail (SRT) living the area for 10 years that I finally wanted to go. We were just going for a walk for exercise, so no bikes. The trail was wooded for a while and very flat. When we came close to Unity Park we saw a sign saying "Fast Bear Right, Slow Bear Left." We went left since we were walking, but bicycles were still buzzing past once. One section even recommended bicyclists dismount, but none did. On the return walk we decided to try the Fast side and were almost run over by bicyclists going 15-20 mph. We won't do that again, but there is no way that I can tell to stay safe from the bicyclists. God forbid you have a dog on a leash that might pull across the train and clothesline a bicyclist!Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2023

Very scenic along the river, plenty wide and safe for pedestrians and bicyclists. There are numerous places to stop along the trail and plenty reasons to hike or bike this areaVisited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 December 2023

At 28 miles (and counting), does a great job of connecting up the community. The paths are mixed in quality.

Such an incredible experience! We rented electric bikes from Pedigo and so enjoyed the experience of riding downtown and surrounding areas!

This is a tough one to review because while the bike trail is wonderful, and in keeping with the way Greenville does things, and gets five stars, but the many people who interfered with our enjoyment of it get negative five stars. So many other bicyclists failed to exercise proper etiquette , and passed us without warning (no ringing of the bell, or saying ‘passing on your left’) and did so at high speeds (some on electric bikes), that they ruined the experience for us and we had to cut our ride short. Not only was it unpleasant, it was dangerous We attempted to ride the trail late morning on a weekday, and perhaps if we had gone the very first thing in the morning or at the very end of the afternoon it would’ve been better ?. I know that many bike trails "suffer" from this problem, and if I lived in Greenville, I would ride it at the crack of dawn (as I do with my home trail), but as a visitor (not with my own bike) I had to wait until the rental store was open.

One of the highlights of our trip. We biked the trail. It's well maintained. Lots of areas to stop to eat. I loved the tree cover which kept the sun off in many spots. The restaurant choices were amazing. There were several spots that had bike pumps and bike tools available along the trail.

Great trail and pretty long (never did end to end). Rated one of the best in the nation.
We have gone to the river portion for engagement pics, for graduation pics so needless to say this is a very scenic trail.

Our daughter lives in Greenville and we joined her for a ride up the Swamp Rabbit Trail for about 10 miles up to Travellers Rest for lunch and shopping and back. Even though it poured on our ride back, we had a great time. Awesome trail.

Is the Swamp Rabbit Trail open before and after performances at the Peace Center? Attending Nutcracker. Hotel is just across the river. Would prefer to walk rather than drive. Safe at night? Thanks.

There is a very gradual incline almost the whole way from Greenville to Traveler's Rest. The ride back to Greenville is very easy! Lol

If you walk down to the trail from the Swamp Rabbit Inn and bike to Traveler's Rest, it's a nice, level ride.

Where is the most convenient place to stop and eat on the trail considering bicycle parking?

There are plenty of options along the way and most places have areas for the bicycles. We ate downtown at the falls and just parked our bikes close to where we were sitting and could keep an eye on them. No problem.
