Beautiful lake to go swimming in. The sand was clean. Plenty of lifeguards watching everyone swimming. Property was very clean.

This is a great stop for the person who enjoys freshwater swimming and a beach. While small, it has what you need. Sandwiched among a quiet residential area, this lake and beach is located a few miles from the PA Turnpike. You’d never know it because this place is relaxing and puts you in vacation mode.

I have been frequenting Mt Gretna for many years and have enjoyed our many experiences ... summer Theater, Jigger Shop, the Lake. To sustain this experience we now like to take along our grand Kids’s. Last week three of the grand kids wanted to play “Mini Golf”. I had not played mini golf in Mt Gretna for many decades, but agreed to take them. This was probably the worst experience I have ever had. I was mortified by the condition of the Course. Torn and moldy carpet, cracked and pot hole ridden approach’s, rotten and missing wood bumpers, high weeds and areas of mosquito infested standing water. My nine year old grand son made the comment... this place is “Disgusting”. This would be recreation is going to, or has, given Mt. Gretna a terrible reputation. I know this is one of many Otto properties. For heavens sake... just close or completely rebuild. This is an embarrassment.

Yes, the Cost is higher than a township pool (or similar) but the maintenance and area are likely incredibly higher $$$, too. I think its worth it! As a semi-local, I have found ways to make admission affordable (ticket booklets) and my kids and I get to go often.

If you have a craving for the beach and don't want to drive the 4+ hours to get there, Mt Gretna Lake & Beach is a very nice alternative. Nice clean lake with water attractions (high dive, swings) and the ability to rent kayaks, inner tubes. Also great for people watching. A few tips if you decide to go: • Bring your own picnic lunch. They have a dismal and expensive snack (seriously snack) bar. They have lots of picnic tables. • Get there early to secure the "first come first serve" umbrellas. They say they open at 11:30, but we got there at 11:31 and all the umbrellas were already taken. Or bring your own. • Bring your own inner tube or noodle. They do rent inner tubes for fee. You are not allowed to bring your own boat or kayak * They have a very nice and clean bath house that contains 2 showers and 3 changing rooms. It is HOT in there. So yes, you can shower and change into a clean pair of clothes, but you will be sweating by the time you are done. • Alcohol is not permitted (unless you are super discreet). I would definitely pay the price of admission to go again.
