adjustment to incorrect 'fact'
Nov 2020
Recent articles state that the Tower was reopened by Councillor Alice Maders (?)
But the plaque inside the doorway into the Tower correctly shows that it was opened by the then Leader of Bury Council, Councillor Albert Little (1915 - 2012)
Been up there many times in my life and was there on the day that Councillor Little reopened the Tower

Lovely park, absolutely ruined by dog faeces and litter,! Its everywhere. Council, friends of Burrs and general public trying desparately to keep the park clean and tidy but to no avail.

You can’t go up the tower. Worth a 40 minute climb from Ramsbottom for the peace and quiet and great views though. On the way down there are three pubs to visit en route. Would be nice if someone installed a few benches and if you could go up the tower on special days that would be even better

Landmark
Jul 2021
I was travelling on the East Lancashire Railway and was able to see the Peel Tower from the train. It is quite a landmark in the local area for a local personality.

From the train you can get off and take a walk up the hill to go and check it out up close and personal.

Great views on all sides on a clear day

A monument to Robert Peel, once a Bury MP and Home Secretary. Looks a little forlorn but must have been great views across over and beyond Ramsbottom at one time. Easy walk from the town if you don't mind steps !

Great walk and views
Mar 2021 • Couples
This isn’t a difficult walk but has a lot of satisfaction for the minimal effort needed. ( as a hiker ) This is great walk for families and dog owners. At the top you could have a picnic with the views around you. The tower at the top is very interesting. Would walk here again and explain the different walking routes from the tower.

Great Landmark
Mar 2020
It’s been awhile since I have climbed Holcombe hill to get to the tower, but once up there the views are incredible especially on a clear day. I used to go up regularly as a child, most Easter Sundays for as long as I can remember. If you are visiting Ramsbottom and you want a walk you won’t be disappointed!

Great walk up from Ramsbottom station. Dog leading the way. Wet and wild at the top. With this great dark tower looking over the moor. V impressive. Amazing views out to Manchester City centre before the weather closed in. Well worth a visit. Legend has it the tower is occasionally open and you can climb the steps to the top. Will be good to do that post covid !!

Lovely walk with fantastic views

Lovely walk up Holcolmbe Hill with my seven-year-old niece to reach Peel Tower. An easy walk up but not buggy-friendly. Great views from the top.
