A treat for all!

A wonderful, interesting and informative museum following the incredible story of the Lancaster Fusiliers.

We also enjoyed a delightful coffee and breakfast in the cafe. The staff and volunteers are brilliant.

100% recommend for a quick coffee pit stop or to take in a bit of history.

Interesting Memorial
Jul 2021
The Fusilier Museum is in the centre of Bury. Just a short walk from the Interchange.

There is alot of very interesting information in the museum about the Fusiliers and the local area. There is an excellent gift shop and the tourist information centre is also located here.

Worth checking out if you are visiting the local area.

I grew up on the council estate opposite the old Fusiliers Barracks
Sep 2019
I grew up on the council estate opposite the old Fusiliers Barracks and went in a few times as a kid. It was the late 70's and early 80's, and I know I wouldn't have appreciated it then as I do now, partially because I'm an adult, and partially because my son is a Fusilier himself, but the new museum is way beyond what the old one was. The old one, whilst steeped in history, artefacts and information, despite it's factual accuracy, didn't really know how to present it in an entertaining, informative and enlightening way.
But this is the 21st Century now and times have changed, as this is a very well set out and informative building with some great exhibits and a surprise or two as well, with very knowledgeable and helpful staff. It has a great cafe that is reasonably priced and a function room, although I have never used that. A great way to while away a couple of hours :)

Try to get info
Jan 2020
I wanted info on hiring the place for a civil ceremony? I left 3 messages over 3 days with 3 different people. I’m still waiting to hear from the event coordinator. Don’t bother, we will go elsewhere.

Very informative museum also very large function room
Nov 2019
I came here for a presentation function in the largest function room here a few weeks ago and being early, I had a look around the museum and bought a couple of things from the gift shop as a contribution towards their running costs.
The function I came to was a super event and the staff there were so helpful. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and I’m sure that the organisers will have the event here next year too.
There was plenty of on street parking (pay meters) and it was easy to get a space, except market days which are Thursday/Friday/Saturday’s.

Exploring Bury

This museum not just for those interested in military history. Well thought out journey via local connections to the wider prism of the empire. Some of the personal testimonials were very moving along with evocative photographs and other memorabilia.

Fantastic
Nov 2019
Went to the museum as my Great Uncle served with the 11th Battalion of the Lancashire Fusillers in WW1. He died from his gun shot wounds in the Passendale battle on 27/11/1917. and we had been planning to go for some time

The museum is like a Tardis and opens up nicely inside. The full history of the Fusillers is covered, right up to modern day. If you have relatives who served or are just interested, it’s a must of a visit.

There is also a gent who will do some research for you via appointment.

Disappointed
Nov 2019
Although the reviews were good I found it disappointing ,yes there’s lots of medals to see and the Victoria crosses, but it just left me missing something,I don’t know what. There’s a photo of Lee Rugby’s son and a nice write up but no date as to when he was murdered. The Normandy room didn’t have anything in it except some beautiful drums which were in a glass cabinet. Sorry I won’t be returning.

Great Insight for 2 Military Veterans
Oct 2019
Took my mother (former QARANC) to this museum today... a place she helped with its transfer from its Elton site to where it stands now. Great place to visit with a vast history of the regiment on display. The Tolkien Exhibition was very interesting also I must say. Will revisit soon with my three kids in tow. Well worth a visit folks from a former RAF Firefighter, son of a former Para, grandson of a former RAF Air Sea Rescue (WWII), great great nephew of a former WWI PoW with the Cameroon’s, etc, etc,...
