My wife and I love coffee and so we decided to explore Portland's coffee scene. We had a wonderful guided tour by Lora.

Lora knows her coffee and she provided us knowledge on the industry and trends. She took us to Sisters Coffee and Good Coffee, two of the coffee shops on our personal list to visit. She gave us the history, the "happenings" and the tastings at each location. Suffice to say we loved it. The tour lasted 3 hours and Lora was a wonderful guide providing us not just coffee knowledge but the Pearl District history. She was sociable and fun to hangout with. The next time we return we will definitely drop in for another tour again.

Had a great time on this tour - we visited four different coffee shops and sampled a wide variety of coffee beverages prepared in different formats. Our guide Katrina was very knowledgeable, and was able to give useful information to both experienced and novice coffee drinkers. The pace was relaxed, and we got to try some fun snacks along the way as well. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys trying new things and chatting with folks in the coffee industry.

I booked this last minute as a birthday gift for myself and so glad I did! Lora was a wonderful tour guide, and it ended up being just the two of us, which I thought it was great rather than her canceling.

I am a coffee drinker but by no means an expert. It was neat to hear about the history of coffee and the different things that affect its taste. She is very knowledgeable and took me to three wonderful stops with unique options.

Plus, the tour started with a selection of donuts. Though I got my favorite, a maple bar or caramel longjohn as I call it, I really loved the buttermilk one. It went so well with the coffee just as it was recommended.

As a walking tour, it's also nice just to take in the city and discover coffee shops and stops you might not otherwise have known about. I liked the variety and how enthusiastic Lora was about coffee.

I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting and would even take it again next time I'm in Portland.

I live in Portland and took a coffee tour for something fun to do in the overcast winter, as well as that I’ve never taken a food tour that is wrapped around 1 ingredient, as opposed to being neighborhood focused.

It was a super fun way to learn about coffee, and Pacific Northwest coffee culture. The guide taught me about the plants, beans and production. As well as some of the different roasters in Portland, and what their specialties and stories are.

I hadn’t been to any of the places we visited, so it was great to discover some new (to me) spots, in The Pearl.

I had 4 coffee drinks – some fancy latte types and some more basic, but with attention to the details of preparation. At a couple of the places, the baristas took the time to demonstrate their technique, such as pour over. And answer any questions I had – the baristas were completely generous with their time. A bakery snack was included – although one should not go super hungry.

I think even coffee aficionados would learn a lot on a coffee tour. As well as people who enjoy coffee but are not experts.

The Third Wave Coffee Tour was a wonderful experience! I went along with my wife and one of my siblings, and we all very much enjoyed the tour from start to finish. Beyond learning about the different distinguishing features of coffee, Laura took us to some of the best local coffee shops in Portland. Each location was so unique, and offered us the opportunity to try several delicious coffee beverages. Not only was Laura great at providing information about the coffee, but she was most importantly very friendly and personable. Not being from Portland, she gave us many suggestions on other local gems in the city and helped us navigate around town. I would absolutely suggest this experience to anyone who is even remotely interested in learning about, and tasting, some of the highest quality coffee I've ever had!

Only having a few days in Portland, we were anxious to make the most of our first experience here. Booking a tour with Third Wave Coffee Tours was definitely the way to go. Lora, the owner and tour-guide made the whole process easy and enjoyable. She gauged our level of knowledge about coffee and tailored a tour just for us to ensure we got the most out of the experience. She was extremely knowledgable about the industry, especially the third wave movement, as her company name implies.

I feel like we all learned a lot from not only her presentation but also through our conversations with her along the way. Choosing the coffee shops carefully, she introduced us to several knowledgable baristas and shop proprietors who were also generous in sharing their knowledge. And of course, we also got to try some world-class coffee on this tour.

Lora made sure we sampled a wide variety of beans from different regions, processed and prepared in different ways, so we all came away with a broader understanding and deeper appreciation for everything that goes into producing each cup. Even when the tour was over, she graciously stayed with us to answer our questions and just enjoy a little bit more conversation.

I've been a fan of specialty coffee for several years, and thought I had a pretty good understanding of the processes and techniques employed by the third wave movement. I came to realize just how much I DIDN'T know on this tour. Whatever your level of exposure to coffee, I feel like most everyone can gain from this experience. Though we're still far from experts, I think we all know a lot more than we did before taking this tour. Thank you for everything Lora, you made our trip to Portland very special.

Lora was a gracious and knowledgeable host. My wife and I have different relationship and experience levels with coffee, and we both learned a lot of new insights from Lora on this tour. She expertly guided us through several tastings while sharing her detailed knowledge of coffee’s process and its history. Highly recommended for coffee lovers of any experience level.

I recommend this tour! Lora started out the tour with some brief history on growers, types of coffee seeds, and history of roasters in Portland. We tasted the homemade syrups at Case Study Coffee, espresso foam from Nossa Familia, and horchata iced drink (YUM) at Good Coffee. I recommend taking this tour early in your trip so that you have a wide variety of options for good coffee for all your days in Portland!

This was a bit of a last-minute decision, and Lora was able to accommodate our custom tour with only a day's prep. Great sense of the history of Portland and coffee, the scene and major players, but most of all to pick out some stellar coffeshops we would otherwise have missed. She tailored the experience, bringing us to great shops we hadn't yet experienced in neighborhoods we'd not yet visited. Lattes with peppercorns... cortados with anisette... cold-filtered, drip, espresso, you name it. Good thing we metabolize caffeine quickly! And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention our tour started with some of the finest donuts my kids have ever tasted - Voodoo gets all the attention, but XXX has the donuts and the coffee to match (and yes, you'll have to take her tour to know what donut shop I'm referring to). Yes, there's a lot of walking. But after getting jacked on that much coffee, you won't lack for the energy to do it! It brought to mind Scottie's Pizza Tours in NYC... if that's familiar to you, this is definitely on the same level of quality, nerdiness and fun.

We truly enjoyed our Streetcar Tour with Lora. Even as Portlanders , we had plenty to learn about coffee in general and our town's coffee scene. Our 13 year old niece (who is a coffee drinker) joined us and she too thought the tour was great. Would highly recommend this tour to local or visiting coffee fans.
