We took three three tours with America's Hub. In fact, when they had to reschedule a coastal tour they provided us with a private downtown tour. All three tours - half day downtown Portland, half day Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge, and full day coastal tour far exceeded our expectations. Phil was our tour guide for the two half day tours and Carrie was our tour guide for the full day coastal tour - they were both very knowledgeable, and offered lots of great tips on restaurants, and scenic hot spots, I would highly recommend all three of these tours,

It really is a sin that I was the only person who took part of this today. It was gorgeous out there in the coast, not a cloud in the sky and just a slight breeze at worst. Since it was just me and Jeri the tour guide, we were flexible in our itinerary. Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, Ecola Park were the expected stops. But today we opted to go up to Astoria and went up to the Astoria Column. It was a great day.

I was recommended this tour company by another company who let me down last minute. I had hoped to go on a Mount St. Helens tour, unfortunately the company I had booked with told me the tour wouldn’t be running due to a lack of people only 24 hours before it was due to begin. I had hoped to do a Mount Hood tour as a backup but no other company had availability with it being so last minute.

So instead I decided to do a Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge tour. Although not what I had originally wanted to see, it was still an amazing experience. Our guide, Geri, picked us up (myself and another staying at my hotel) at 8:45 to start the tour. In total, there was five of us on the tour. After getting to know Geri a little better, I learnt that she had in fact studied for a semester at Sunderland (my home town) University doing a photography course – what a small world!

Geri was very informative, giving us a little background information on the city and sights as we left downtown Portland and began our 30 minute journey to the Gorge. Firstly we drove to Vista House to see the stunning views of the Gorge from above. Vista House was built shortly after the construction of the highway, which runs through the rainforest, to serve as restrooms for travellers. The construction went $80,000 over budget after Alaskan marble was shipped in for the floors, walls and even the sinks giving it the nickname ‘the $100,000 toilet’.

The views were spectacular and we were lucky enough to see them before the cloud and mist worked its way down the river. I don’t know how Seattle gets its nickname as the rainy city because Portland seems to get a lot more rain! The rainforest can get up to 80 inches of rain per year. The tress are covered in a beautiful bright green moss which creates an enchanting view especially next to the many waterfalls – seasonally there can be over 100 waterfalls! Geri also showed us the damage to the rainforest after the Oregon fires back in September after some teenagers decided to set fireworks off which started the fire. A lot of the walking trails are still cordoned off as parts of the area are classed as being too dangerous in case of mudslides. It’s such a shame to see all of that beautiful vegetation brunt away.

We saw four waterfalls on our journey; Latourell Falls (my favourite) which is a plunge waterfall which we were able to walk right up to. The power of the water is fascinating as it crashes down on the rocks below. The next was Shepperd’s Dell, it’s commonly known as a bow tie waterfall because of the shape it makes when it narrows at the rocks. The next two were two tier waterfalls; the first was Bridal Veil which gets its name because the second tier resembles a veil. And finally Multnomah Falls which is Oregon’s largest waterfall and one of Portland’s biggest tourist attractions. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get up close to it because of the fire damage but we were able to go into the visitor’s centre and read up on some facts!

Once we had seen everything we wanted to, Geri dropped us back off at a location of our choice downtown. She gave us tips of where to go and how to get around. She knew her facts really well and was happy to cater the tour around us as much as she could! I learned a lot about Portland and surrounding areas which I wouldn’t have known if it had not been for this tour and Geri!

We were so excited to take this tour and were horribly disappointed to find out that we were not going to Multnomah Falls. After riding in the van for 20 or more minutes our tour guide tells us we are going to Silver Falls. These falls are over an hour away and had I known this prior to departure would have cancelled. We wanted to go and visit something that was in the opposite direction of where we were going for the next three days. I really wished someone had called and told us, that would of made a huge difference. They did talk to them over the phone and confirm the appointment but did not tell us of any changes to which falls we were visiting. Anyways the Silver Falls where nice, but a lot more hiking in muddy conditions that ended up ruining my shoes and jeans. Overall really disappointed in ordering this trough Trip Advisor since they don't guarantee anything.

Our guide was more of a nice taxi driver than professional tour guide. He knew very little about Portland. We were very disappointed. Based on other reviews written here, we thought we were in for an interesting, informative experience. His microphone did not work. The van stopped on a steep hill and stalled. He basically drove us places, dropped us off, and told us what time to be back at the van. This tour was way too expensive for what it provided to us.

In retrospect, it would have been much better to rent a car and do this tour on our own. Booked through TripAdvisor. We called and were instructed to meet the van quite a distance from our hotel. The last on the bus, we were crammed into the backseat. Later found out that the others had been picked up at their hotels or convenient places. Could not hear the narration. Stops very short and no time to really enjoy the beautiful waterfalls. Better to rent a car for less money and do it on your own. Or find a bus with comfortable seats that allows more time at each location.

It was a perfect tour to get a taste of both the city and nature. Our tour guide shared plenty of interesting information about Portland and was very friendly. We toured the city from 9am to around 1PM or so. Then we took an hour of lunch break, tried some great food from the food trucks in downtown Portland. After lunch drove out of the city was saw 3 waterfalls, Multnomah Falls being the best of all of them. We were back in downtown Portland around 5PM.

I loved this day trip! Pick up was prompt, our driver Phil explained we had a few other pickups to do, then with everyone on board he explained our itinerary. He was very informative throughout the day, looked up answers to questions he couldn't answer, and got the timings of our stops right to allow photos, coffee, lunch etc. Don't think we could have had a better, friendlier driver and guide. And of course, the scenery was stunning!

Purchased this tour online through Viator.com. Getting picked up & dropped off at the hotel was extremely convenient. It was 3.5 hour tour, only 2 of us that day, during the week. We all wore our masks in the air-con van. John, our tour guide was super informative and he answered all our inquiries on the route. You rocked, John! The tour itself was Fantastic!! We witnessed the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge from the top of Crown Point rest stop. Beautiful scenery ever! Nature at its best. Tour lead us up winding roads & into the State parks. Explored Latourell, Sheppard Dell, Wahkeena, Horsetail waterfalls. Got close to few, enough to feel the cool, brisk mist of the water on your face and touch some of the cold waters! Luckily, we had passes for Multnomah Falls (need reservations). Little crowded on the bridge but such a lovely site! Learned of the history of many waterfalls, thanks to our tour guide. Where does water come from? Peaks of Mt Hood & others that melt and run under ground reaching all these waterfalls eventually, flowing into the Gorge. Amazing. Absolutely encourage all to take this tour. You're able to explore the beautiful "nature" side of Portland. My best adventure!

This was the second tour that my boyfriend and I did with Oregon Hub City Tours, and this tour couldn’t have been more different from our other tour. I’ll start with negatives.

- the tour company overbooked our tour, so our van (which was already crowded) was overpacked.
- we were in a van that had very little space; the rows were too close together and given the amount of people, I would’ve thought we would have a larger vehicle.
- our tour guide was also the driver, which unfortunately meant we didn’t end up hearing much information on the area we were touring.
- the microphone provided for our driver wasn’t working so even if he wanted to talk, the back two rows of our van couldn’t hear anyway over the A/C.
- not much time was given for each stop, I wound up feeling rushed (especially at the more scenic places, like Multnomah Falls)

Now for some positives!

+ the scenery, despite not having enough time to explore it, was beautiful!
+ our tour guide, despite being inhibited by the situation, was very knowledgeable and nice.

Overall, I feel that if the logistical errors in this tour been ironed out, it would’ve been far more enjoyable.
