About
We offer floats in any of our 4 float tanks. We also have massage which can be combined wonderfully with floating. Given space to think, we can see our dreams more clearly. Given time to rest, we can be propelled by the kind of inspiration the comes from simply being still.

I was excited to try the float shoppe because I've never done a float before. When I entered, I was greeted and made to feel at home right away. The gentleman offered me water/tea and walked me to a nice cozy room to have a seat, roll up my pants and soak my feet in a huge foot soak tub. He explained the process of the float tank so I knew exactly what to expect. He walked me to the float tank and showed me how it works then left me to my private room to be in a floaters bliss. The thing I loved is you have a private room and they wake you from your float with beautiful music. There is a shower in your room with all of the necessary toiletries as well. It is such a peaceful experience not to mention I was completely relaxed. I enjoyed it more then acupuncture, a chiro, or massage. I was so refreshed and relaxed I made my appointment for the following week. Best "me" time I've had in YEARS!!! What a blessing! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

I have floated at The Float Shoppe off and on over the years. The staff is great, the location is great, and its an experience I think everyone should try.
If you've never tried floating before I highly recommend that you commit yourself to THREE floats. The first one is never the best one because everything is new and exciting and its really had to just relax and float. The second float is better as you know what to expect and can relax more. The third float is where you start to identify your own personal preferences.
There is no "wrong" way to float. Some people float with the lights on. Some people float with the door open.
For me personally I like the lights off and the door closed. I love the warm, wet, dark, and quiet feeling.
My friends have asked me to describe the experience to them and its rather difficult but the best I could come up with is... imagine that you're laying in bed in a luxuary hotel on a Saturday morning. The blackout curtains are keeping the room pitch black and you have absolutely no plans for the day. You can stay in bed all day. Now imagine that you're in the most comfortable bed you've ever been in wrapped in the most comfortable and light down comforter you've ever had. In fact, this bed and blanket are so comfortable that you can't really tell where one stops and the other starts. Its not too hot and not too cold... its "just right". Its warm, wet, dark, and quiet and you feel like you're floating in outer space or something.

My sister and I came up from Tahoe to visit and had an amazing experience at the float shoppe. This was not my first time floating and i can tell you that the level of professionalism there was outstanding! The only noise I was able to hear was this really loud motorcycle that drove by as well. Great place would definitely go again.

This place is INCREDIBLE! We were in town for a foodie/wine tasting weekend and my boyfriend was intent on figuring out a way to make a type A personality relax. He booked us for a 90 minute float and 90 minute massage afterward. I thought it was going to be a bit too new agey for me but I actually got alot out of it.
When you first arrive, you sit in these comfy chairs and put your feet in a fountain of water with other people. The receiptionst comes over and explains the process and how to get to the relaxation state the quickest way. All her tips by the way, were spot on. It took about 15 minutes for your brain to turn off and then you have the rest of the time to reflect on life. You float in this big egg looking thing and the water is at body temperature. You are in a private room with a shower.
The best part about this visit though was the massage. My boyfriend had Winter as the masseuse and I had her partner Sylvia (I think that was her name). She was incredible. She performed a massage called structural body work. She actually worked out alot of the problems I was having in my legs and got blood flowing back in those places where I had tissue build up. I felt great for days afterward. She was really knowledgable in many different forms of massage and was great in explaining what happens inside your body that causes these problems. It was the best massage I have ever had.
The customer service at the place is awesome too! they are all very zen like.
A must try!

I am the President of a growing company and wear many hats. Needing a little TLC, a friend referred me to The Float Shoppe. I had the most incredible experience. A real treat to sip a nice cup of tea while soaking your feet in a warm, bubbling foot bath. Then on to my 90 minute float, which was over the top for relaxation. After my float, I had a 60 minute deep tissue massage, which was another wonderful experience in itself. I completed my day by treating myself to the BEST chicken curry and glass of Pinot Gris at the little restaurant across the street.
Highly recommend this experience for anyone, including stressed out business owners! :)

When arriving in Portland on Amtrak after a mostly-sleepless night on the train, or after a long car ride, I used to write off the first day to fatigue and working out muscle aches. In the past year, I visit the Float Shoppe first thing, and have the most incredibly vibrant relaxing experience, coming out refreshed and vital and ready for the rest of what Portland has to offer. Sometimes I'll go for a second float a few days or a week later because it's just such a warm and welcoming place. For me it's most helpful in quieting and organizing the chaos that I tend to carry. Imagine what it could do for jet-lag...

A restful way to go on a peaceful mind trip. Will absolutely do this again. I did the dark version. Thought my mind would go somewhere dark in that space, but it didn't it. Loved it, it was over too quick.

I had a truly magical experience at The Float Shoppe today. I spent the entire day there because I booked the 'Spacewalk'. 90 minute massage followed by a 90 minute float followed by a light meal followed by a 90 minute acupuncture session.
First of all, Abraham greeted me when I arrived. He was so friendly, helpful and attentive. He explained everything very well.
Then my massage with Clementine was amazing. She has such a healing touch and she is highly intuitive. She also explained things well and she was so compassionate. The craniosacral work she performed on me was very powerful, let me tell you.
After that I had the float session. It was restorative and calming. It really helps to ease muscle tension. I was provided spring roll wraps afterward from a nearby Thai restaurant. With plum and peanut sauce. So tasty!
Finally, I had the acupuncture session with Mari Ane. Wow! She used a variety of techniques, not just the needles. She did some cupping on my back and she used a sound bowl on me. This was the first time I had acupuncture and I could really feel the energy moving through me. It was incredible.
I was on another plane of existence by the time I was done. My head was waaaaay up in space. I understand why they call it the spacewalk. I highly recommend this place. The foot bath they have in the cozy waiting room is a bonus, plus complimentary tea! Thank you so much Float Shoppe 💓

The ambiance of the place is so relaxing (tea and footbath in the lobby), so it’s like a little oasis off of bustling 23rd. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in explaining everything especially since it was my first time floating. The float tank room was clean and well-appointed (though a few more towels would have been nice). Overall, I think it’s a great place to go if you’re an experienced floater and like floating.
For first time floaters like me: I enjoyed the float tank experience, it was like being in a soft comfy bed. I came out feeling much more relaxed. But be prepared to deal with the salt solution- it’s easy to get in the eyes and that stings a lot. It also leaves a crust on your skin and everything you touch when you come out. Also, I could see that it would be a little rough if you have any fear of enclosed spaces, the dark or water. All in all, I loved the Float Shoppe, but next time I want to relax, I would just lie down in a really comfy bed.

I've been floating at The Float Shoppe regularly since 2012, and every experience has been wonderful. The owners and staff are friendly, welcoming, helpful, and encouraging. In short, they are amazing people to know. I feel embraced and genuinely appreciated every time I walk through the door, and that's before I dip my toes into the foot soak in the lobby. The hot rock and water foot bath is a delightful pre-soak ritual that sets up the float to follow by shifting me into a more relaxed and open internal space so I can more easily get to the good stuff within the float. Then, there are the tanks! Each of the four tanks and the ultra-clean, comfortable spa rooms in which they're set are peaceful cocoons, each with it's own unique features depending on the floaters preferences. I've tried them all and, depending on what kind of mood I'm in, I still like each of them for different reasons. Most recently, I floated in the tank with stars inside. That one feels playful and fun to me, and if I'm having trouble getting loose, the stars are a happy focus point. I like the open tank and recommend it to my friends who are concerned about feeling claustrophobic or closed in. Then there's the big Floatarium tank, my go-to for its spacious quiet. The new tank on the main level is also a nice, roomy option and has an electronic lid and overhead rainshower, so this one feels more luxurious and modern. I love everything,..EVERYTHING about this place and would recommend to anyone interested in trying floating for the first time or those wanting a life-shifting on-going floating experience. They have awesome memberships and packages to save you a little coin and give you onoing transcendent experiences. Enjoy!
