EXCELLENT venue for camping. Spacious areas for socializing. Park management is overly friendly and accommodating. That said they are also pretty good at enforcing the rules which provides a positive experience for everyone. Frankly for $30/night it's a bargain. I have stayed there 3 times and going back for many more.

A few miles off the main road and a little tricky to find, this nature park is well worth the trip. It is free for day use to enjoy the pristine grounds, bubbling streams, picnic areas, horseshoe games, birdwatching, and a well done playground. The entrance to the Umatilla National Forest is at the very back of the park (follow the signs/dirt road) where there is parking so you can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, and motorcycling down the dedicated trails. Overnight stays at the campsite area are inexpensive and include RV(water and electric)/tent (potable water) sites, small or large shelters, and Yurts/cabins.

This park is lovely and worth the drive out of town. The river was beautiful and foliage lush. We plan to come back to stay this year.

We have been here several times. The park is in a beautiful setting on the South Fork of the Walla Walla River. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they keep the grounds in great shape. It is not fancy, but everything is just right. There are fine opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. In the late summer, the temperature is just a bit cooler than down in the valley. We like this place.

An idyllic spot. Great for day use or camping. The south Fork is everything a rushing stream should be. To improve your frame of mind there is not cell phone service.

Harris park is a great place to camp or day use. Lots of updates to the park in the last year and great staff. Located 13 miles from Milton Freewater, you feel like you're in the mountains. Great for hiking, fishing, motorcycle and horse riding on the trails. Great for families or reunions. Water and electricity hook ups only, no showers. Do plan on making reservations however you can call the park to see if opening if last minute.

We love spending the weekends at Harris Park. There are limited sites, so you need to get your reservation in early. Each site is clean and very comfortable. We especially like to be on the river side of the camp. Those spots are choice! The only complaint I have is the cost to rent the picnic shelter is you are having a group. I think it is way, way to much for the shelter, but that is just me perhaps. Yes, we will come again, and often.

When we arrived we saw deer in our campground. They were very nice.
There were no showers, but the restrooms was working.
After all, we had a river nearby us.
What I liked here is the mountains around us. It was beautiful!
It was calm in the night and we slept perfectly.
A must see!

If you are planning to get a reservation for a given time, you need to check into it about a year in advance as this park is always loaded with campers in tents and all sorts of trailers, campers and fifth wheels. There are lots of places for walking, the river for fishing. It's nice and cool during the hot times of the year with trees everywhere. Lots of wild berries too.
When you take rides out there, you see families and couples everywhere enjoying the area, even getting up ball games and the like. It's a beautiful area to explore and you can come upon deer, elk and even a bear now and then.

Are there fire rings or fire pits at each campsite?

It states that no tobacco use is allowed as this is a county park. Does anyone know if they enforce that at the Harris Park campgound?
Written 2 May 2017
Luvsroosters2, I did confirm with the office, they did say the park manager would enforce the policy, I guess it depends on if you have an RV? However, the road is very close to the campground, you would be able to smoke on the road providing the isn't a ban because of dryness. I hope you take the time to visit this beautiful park/area. Remember, there is no cell service!
